Killer implied it a few posts up.
I don't really see what the AFL can do. There are a long string of AFL games that suck because in the most part the sport doesn't translate well to a video game.
no I didn't

jeez, you blokes were probably complaining about the introduction of computers into the work space, BH for sure.
All new technology is more work in the beginning but it soon grows and pays for itself or it dies.
mate creating a rugby game for playstation is not an evolution of 'new technology'
exactly, it is far far easier.
But cavemen don't even know what a light switch is so there is no chance of engaging an audience to watch/enjoy rugby by some digital method.

Pretty sure that one of the board members runs Microsoft in Australia so she might be a little bit familiar with digital technology.
Well you must be an expert in gaming then.
I guess all those other successful games out there, with 10's of millions of daily players, are imaginary and the methods they use to engage the players can't be transferred to rugby.
We should just give up now and ignore what our potential audience is interested in.

Tex on your radical idea of engaging kids boarding the player base.
How about we start a computer game that shows all of rugby's skills, and all Super Rugby teams, that shows the names of all our players, of all our teams, coaches and stadiums we play at.
Think it might work.
seems to be working for them
I have played enough of them including the rugby games to know that they rugby games suck whoever makes them and it would be a crazy thing for Rugby Australia to focus any attention on.
BH
Not in a long while so in relation to new games no.
Same... the last one being that god awful thing the NZ developer made back in 2011 when they acquired the rights to most of the world's teams - I may have played it twice?
You don't get any bigger than EA, and even they struggled to improve on the game in all of the years they developed it.
just a comment on current levels of technology.
For example, nanotechnology knowledge is doubling every two years and clinical knowledge every 18 months. But on average human knowledge is doubling every 13 months. According to IBM, the build out of the “internet of things” will lead to the doubling of knowledge every 12 hours.Apr 19, 2013
I don't think we're likely to see rugby union, AFL or league make a serious play in the video game/esports market because the games all suck. I don't think it is just a case of having the desire to make a better game. The sports just don't translate well.
