Australian Rugby / RA

Honestly at this point in time, I’d be keen to support a change in dates. Super Rugby and Rugby Championship are tired products. I don’t see a date change damaging the product any further.

Greater alignment of the international calendar offers more benefits then it does negatives, especially from a commercial aspect and international broadcast rights.

It also offers more opportunity for a club challenge or champions league involving Japan and other European teams.

yeah - I'm not against it. Particularly if it means more cash into Rugby Australia's coffers.

The 'traditional' three match series in June / July is a bit of a fallacy really. Its barely a tour as teams are in and out pretty damn quick and it doesn't have the same meaning generally as the RC. I like this concept - at least it can create some meaning amongst the fans.

I would like to see, if we can fit it in, a 'warm up' game v the likes of Tonga, Georgia, Samoa etc return to the schedule though. Just to ensure we are supporting those nations and still seeing different teams come throuugh
The three match tours are more entertaining than the RC imo.

And they are set to be axed as well if the test championship thing gets off the ground
there will still be 3 inbound tests, it will just be in the new world league format. Instead of 3 tests against the same team, it will be 3 tests against different 6 Nation Teams teams.

Given the tyranny of travel across the SH nations, that suits SH teams more than it does NH teams.

Agreed. I'd much prefer we played an inbound and outbound tour each year. Two teams a year between RWC cycles. That would mean we play all 6nations teams 3 times. Add in the TRC (incl Japan & Fiji) + one extra game against NZ would put you at 12. You would then add in 2-3 games v tier 2 and/or the Barbarians.

I think the inevitable is something like this.

- Short SRAU comp used as a warm up and development for Super Rugby teams (4 games + final)
- Then RC played (6N to move slightly to mirror same weekends)
- Then single round Super Rugby (11 games + finals)
- Then some form of comp with Japanese teams (whatever this looks like)

Everything will become more of a squad game with players rested at different stages in the season.
This is a more palatable version of it to me, assuming the broadcasters are as interested in it as otherwise. At a base of 7 home games (plus whatever the Japanese competition brings) it's no less then what the super sides currently have and a test lead in to super rugby may actually benefit it.

That increased squad size is key though, without the money to support it none of this works. Still need to find more rugby for that lower level professional player as well.

I love it is my main thought. This is the type of guy Rugby need for publicity as well as his play.

Far out it's a lot of cash. The kid sure can make coin. As much as they mention Uncle Nick at the Chooks making a last-minute play it may benefit RA because of the talent they are likely to want to keep signed like Manu, Walker, Smith, Radley if they were to match it may be Salary Cap destroying. More likely to tell him whenever he wants to come back to make sure they get first crack like they did with SBW.

Hopefully we see him for at least 2025 and 2027 RWC even though he will only be 27 at the 2031 RWC.

It genuinely works, it works the other way too. Never ever watched a Roosters game till now, I'm curious to watch him play. Insane that he hasn't even turned 20. Did he play SOO?

Its too much, there is no way on earth he is worth $1.6, that would make Muster & Latrell worth $3.2. There are 7 FB's ahead of him atm

Judging from his highlights he plays wing more than fullback? That's because of Tedesco yes? Does he have much all playing ability? Also do wingers in league get involved less than union? His highlights are all from 5m out strictly in the tram tracks.

Mitchell is 6 years older, has off field and injury issues. What on earth?
Munster is 9 years older and exact same off field/injury issues.

Sua'ali'i will be 22 and is as athletically gifted as Folau who was described as being worth 2 mil (still Super Rugby's top tryscorer in just 6.5 years). Rubbish he isn't worth 1.6 mil.

Much more. Not even close. A lot of the Wingers are extensions of the backrow in the attacking aspect of hit ups and the amount of kick returns they run back.

In terms of Origin selection, he will be in the squad but most likely to be on the Wing if he plays. Tedesco, Turbo, Edwards would be ahead of him IMO. Latrell aint a Fullback at Rep level. Hes a very big man and it gasses him out. He's the best centre in the comp but also the best option for Fullback at Souths.

Latrell has also mentioned he thinks about retirement at times and I could see him saying I've had enough at any point. Wonderful player but also a distraction wherever he goes which Rugby don't need. I would have loved the Idea of Munster 2-3 years ago but he has a lot of miles in the rig now. I do think he'd still be a pretty good 12 but he has a career contract for Melbourne I'd say.

gee I hope we don’t hypothetically sign those 2.

3.2 million dollars for the headlines that come with Munster and Latrell…

what’s the biggest controversy with Sua'ali'i? Nothing I heard of… on the other hand those other 2 make headlines off the field.

He hasn't remotely proved himself at all, those other have. 1.6 is double what is a very good offer for him RA

Gotta say, I just smiled thinking of all the hot n bothered league journalists right now prepping for NRL 360. They love putting the boot in and it is fair at times but you know it shits them.

It is also worth noting that a players value isn't just what they just provide on the field.
