We score tries from ugly opposition errors virtually every single match, and have done so since about 8 months into Cotter's tenure, and Glasgow had been doing that for about the 2 seasons prior.

Surely that history of improved coaching and change of game plan has nothing to do with these two specific tries though.

I was really impressed by the skills of all the Scottish backs, individually, and as a unit. They were crisp and accurate in everything they did in attack and defense.

NSW is perfect example.. NSWRU, Waratahs, SRU, ARU and Schoolboys are all governed by seperate boards with different agendas

And you have Schoolboys across multiple associations. How is that meant to do anything but silo off talent and restrict growth?

A grisly loss. Sorry guys, but I love it. Morbid losses make for the best threads. Misery. Grief. Disillusionment. Totally in my wheelhouse here. Who wants to read all that Dudley-do-right crap anyway.

Can we knock up a 5 Stages of Grief After a Wallaby Loss scaffold?

thought quade really lit things up when he came on.

He did indeed. QC (Quade Cooper) provided the spark we were so badly lacking. Within a couple of minutes of him coming on the Scots rush defence got unlocked a couple of times, which apart from some truly heroic last ditch defending should have led to a couple of tries.

And it shows our fitness isn't good enough.
Which indicates pressure for positions isn't good enough.
Which indicates Super Rugby isn't good enough.
Which indicates Club AND Schools Rugby isn't good enough.

So, by all means, let's bitch about the Wallabies. But let's remember the ongoing mistakes that keep us in this little pattern. The players and coaches are only as good as the system they're built on.

You only have to watch a Super Rugby match between an Australian team and a New Zealand team to see that!

I was at the ground, on the 22 at the end where Scotland were warming up. They were much more intense and everything seemed at a much higher speed than what going on at the other end. Scotland also ran their team run semi-opposed. It was very obvious and I was having a chat to a few people around me who noticed the same thing.

Gregor Townsend has continued the good work that Vern Cotter did in turning the way Scotland trained and played. Townsend and his assistants which was a pretty successful team at Glasgow seem to know how to get the team working for each other.

The way some of the Wallabies played it looked like they met in the carpark. Lacked composure at key times and that often comes down to trust and knowing what the guy either side of you is going to do.

Cheika might have gone too far in his changes. There was one starting forward from the 2015 RWC final pack.
We had two rookies props, a couple of pretty new locks and two very green backrowers in the 23.
We need some balance as well as change.

There is some truth in this.

Hanigan is in his first season of playing Super at the Tahs. We are at a huge risk of crucifying what should be a huge talent for the future. NZ would not think of giving him a test start unless he had two full seasons of Super behind him. He's too young and undeveloped, both physically and mentally, to be playing test rugby. Ditto Robertson. AAA is still very green too.

Against the sixth ranked country (now fifth) we should have chosen a big, experienced set of forwards - Kepu, Fardy, Timani.

I know I'm being repetitive, I said the same thing in the thread four days ago. But that doesn't make it any less right. Fardy has to come back into the squad and must start against NZ. Sio and Smith should be our LHP's, Kepu and AAA our THP's. And for the Bledisloes. Hardwick and Hanigan should not be in the 23. They've had their introduction but I don't want them ruined before they even get their test careers started.

My biggest gripe of the night:

After the game I was at a pub in the Eastern Suburbs until about 1am. Who cares? I'm 22 and what I put into my body affects no one but myself. No problems there.

Where I do have a problem is when some of the Wallabies who move in similar circles turn up at 10:00pm and join the fray. FFS you just lost a game you should've won in a representative team that is severely underperforming. Go do some extra laps after the game, go do some yoga to recover or fucking get an early nights sleep and have a long, hard think about how that performance wasn't up to the required standard.

Game plan -
I know you referenced it, I didnt see one either. Even it was if we are in their half lets creat 7 plus phases. I'd love to know how many times that was hit.
But i didnt see one

Switch up -
Yes agree, but we didnt have much happening at all.

Gym -
Gym is a place you go to do the extra's. In my eyes it is generally the off season hang and improve, or used for rehab.
I'm seeing far to many photo's of the whole team looking pretty at the gym. it does not help with match fitness, ball handling, and operating under presure on the paddock.

Upfast -
Yeah it certainly looked like the Scots had a game plan up fast and pressure, and they played to the refs game. There first try of Genia terrible pass, and TPN pop up - they looked a good couple of meters off side but good on them for getting up there and creating pressure.

Night out -
Interesting one this one, i dont disagree with you. But, keen for thoughts on a different angle.
Office workers get to go out for a drink.
First Grade Rugby players get to go out for a drink.
Soup Rugy players get to go out for a drink.
What is right or wrong?

I think Sio would have been starting if he wasn't coming back from injury

Smith vs Robertson? I think that Robertson is a long term solution and a technically very good young prop, but not yet a starter. A more prudent option could have had Smith starting if Sio wasn't ready. But having Robertson off the bench would not have been a bad option with Sio starting

Hanigan should have been the bench option in his first season at best, not starting vs Scotland, against Fiji or Italy well maybe. But I don't see Fardy as the solution. We talk about backrow balance; Higgers, Hanigan & Fardy are all like for like to me. Just bit light going forward, the all lack that angry leg drive and we can only afford one on the field at any one time IMHO.

Timani appears to be the only backrower we have that can do that heavy lifting; and he isn't there for 80 minutes, McMahon I guess does that role as well, but after that, who?

Re the post game drinking, I don't have a problem with it as long as it's in moderation and they aren't being dickheads. It's good for fan (if there are any left) engagement and they are entitled to have a social life.

I witnessed some outrageous behaviour by well known Wallabies (and leaguies) out on the drink in my 20s (so up to around 2000). At least those days are passed in the pro era!
