Just trying to remember. Did the welsh field the Roberts/Davies combo last year when they came out here or was one of them injured?

Roberts was injured, have no fear he played in 5 of the 8 consecutive losses

To me that lineup shows we are going to run to try and run the Lions ragged. I'm assuming McCalman has the edge over Kimlin in terms of mobility. Kimmo has been hard done by though and I feel sorry for Gill.

In terms of the Lions, Sean O'Brien is one of my favourite players but he's not a genuine open side. Assuming Smith is fit, I think he'll dominate.

roberts was out last years series. But we played the roberts/davies midfield a few times and it hasn't been a big issue.

On another note I reckon whichever broadcaster paid a bucket for the rights in Ireland has just shat something unclassifiable.

Sky UK own the rights for the UK and Ireland. Our national broadcaster RTÉ stopped trying to compete many years ago and seem happy that Sky allow them to show highlights of the English soccer. They and the BBC have also lost the rights to the Celtic league for next season to Sky. So the only live rugby on Irish free to air will be home 6Ns games next year.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is indestructible.

Most underrated player in world rugby.

I'm not sure why why all the focus on the risk of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) coming off..sure he is carrying an injury but if it was that big a concern I'm sure they wouldn't be running him on, and I'm sure they've worked out what to do if he comes off.

13 and 15 are generally relatively interchangeable positions, and we have five 15s in the team, nothwithstanding that Tomane & O'Connor can play there quite capably in their own right..also, we don't have access to the players' CVs, only what we have seen them do, I'm sure there is plenty of 13 experience in there.

Who cares about the reshuffle, by the sounds of it KOB and JOC (James O'Connor) are going to be interchanging a bit anyway.

Mate how do you figure that 13 and 15 are generally relatively interchangeable?

Also dissapointed for Gill. Also worried re backs cover. Also haven't seen much of Mccalmun apart from a reds/ force game where I thought he went great-- not spectacular, just bloody effective.
Have tossed and turned overnight, and can't come up with a better mix that I like more. So through an embarrissing coincidence in the time space continueum, I'm probably the only person here who so far has only agreed with deans

Yeah OK, wrong word..similar skill set is what I was getting at. Point is, I'm sure they've got it covered..but I'm just a dumb forward, what would I know.

Defensive alignment for 15 is to pick up the extra man joining. For the centre is about picking the right fucker to begin with. Difficult, but not insurmountable with good communication

Without knowing the thoughts of Deans, I assume that if a centre goes off - KB (Kurtley Beale) to 10, the others move out 1 and Mogg to 15. Not ideal, but the bigger problem then is if another back goes off. Phipps??? Hooper?

Looking at it objectively, if we lose another we are still going to have 5 of O'Connor, Lilo, Folau, Beale, Tomane & Mogg on the field..plenty of attack there so it's going to be about filling the defensive hole..Smith in, Hooper to 7. Or if we are down by 7 or more with say 10 to go they'll want to run it so you'd bring Phipps on, Genia to 10 and push everyone out one.

At the end of the day it will depend on where we are at at the time!

I think that is the key for Deans, you have one guy with more "spectacular" form, another abrasive unit who hasn't played much at all and an effective "tradesman" (he cleans out, he tackles, he runs, he doesn't make many errors, he plays a roll).

It may have come down to who will be more accurate and produce at a "known" standard (Link speak) who has played 20 tests.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see McCalman as the Simmons replacement and some sanity over back selections to prevail

I think we are underestimating the Lions backrow. Sure they aren't fetchers, but they are all strong in the cleanout and in contact. If you are winning the collisions it takes the opposition fetcher out of play.

I don't have an issue with using JOC (James O'Connor), Tomane or Folau at 13 in attack, but in defense it is a different matter.

What do you mean KB (Kurtley Beale) to 10. He will be playing there most of the time already!
