Australia A matches Northern Tour

I warned this was going to happen, our team was pretty weak with no cohesion whereas the Bristol team have been playing week in week out together and are only missing 6-7 starters from a team that could win the Premiership.
Not really surprising when we saw the squad list put out. Can't point to it being the most cohesive bunch. I wonder how much time they've actually had together in preperation. I suspect the squad to face England XV is going to look rather different, especially around the halves. You don't fly Lynagh and HMP over for no reason.
Swain knock on in attack with 4 mins left

about the 12th knock on by Aus XV tonight
I think this was a likely scenario given the afore mentioned lacking cohesion @Dctarget mentioned. Have no doubt this team wasn't always in sync.
A club side without their best players
Yes, they have a game tomorrow don't they? you would have expected a bit more from Australia XV

Anyway, real shame no stream. Hopefully it was filmed and they'll release the footage later. Was curious to see how this bunch of players were doing.

Just realised this is at 1am Monday morning, right before the 3am Wallabies v Wales fixture. Not very friendly for watching them both before work.

Flook has been called up to the main squad after Pietsch has returned home due to his calf injury.

Yep I like the look of that team a lot. England should still handily deal with it, as they should. Their talent runs way deeper than ours and it's equal parts hilarious and embarrassing that they can't get their shit together.

Like the look of the second row and back row. Not sure about our front row. I really think de Luitis is a star in the making but awfully green to be going up against the sort of front row I expect England A to put out.

The backline is very small by current standards. Apart from Lancaster I doubt any of them would be over 90kg. I am not confident of a win.

This week's side looking much stronger:

Lots of fringe, low cap Wallabies and/or prospects in this side. I'm keen to see how some of them go against some good English prospects. I know Toole has gas for days and a lot of people are rather enamoured by him, but I want to see the rest of his game continue to evolve at a higher level. Walton I actually rate as a rather smart and skillful player so likewise keen to see how he goes outside Steward. Great opportunity for him with Flook called up to the main squad. I likewise feel like Canham has a lot of positive moments, a nice Super Rugby highlights reel if you will, but it'll be good to see if he can do all the core and less flashy aspects of the role to a higher and more consistent standard.

Ryan Lonergan I don't think is too far off breaking into the Wallabies. I'd love to know what has been communicated to him as his work ons. I'd be surprised if White, currently at 34 is still in for contention for the next RWC so we'll need a third Scrum Half in the mix.

Interesting that Australia A are 7.5 with a 16.5 point head start. Haven't seen the England A line-up yet.
The BackRow match-up will be interesting - England have Pearson, Pollock, Willis. All play for Gallagher Premiership Clubs - more teams, more opportunities to play top level.

Interesting also that England A have the same coach as England U20 (Mapletoft) - good pathways continuity.

This is good gear from England. That under 20s coaching gig should be seen as the 2nd or 3rd most important coaching appointment in the country and made with a real eye to how it fits into broader system and next decade or so.

Yeah that is a genuinely tiny backline. Bit of an issue in Aussie rugby at the moment.
