Not only do we have the shadow squad in the BaaBaas playing but we also have a shadow squad playingt for Clermont. This weekend Irae Simone captained the side at 12, with Newsome at fullback, Rob Simmons at lock, Caleb Timu in the backrow and soon to be Folau Fainga'a at hooker. and they played Perpignan with Jake McIntyre.

Good to see Reece Hewat still around. Starting at 7 too. Aussie Rugby have never been short of backrowers but one to keep an eye on.

Hope he goes well. Pretty exciting story for a kid from Ipswich to go play and live in Toulouse at age 21, win some championships, then hopefully become an integral part of the Les Bleus, all while perfecting his french.

Though, the rise of the other bigger and younger fella Posolo Tuilagi could snatch his spot. Doubt there's room for two hippos in the team.

Mate, every hood fortune for him in his club career sure but let’s be real we don’t want to see him be successful for France they are already so much better than us. We don’t want to see him win a World Cup in 27

I dunno - France have created a system where uncertain talent is given a chance to flourish. Maybe they should reap the benefits of that?
The French have the top 14 professional competition and a 16 professional team Div. 2 competition. They have 30 professional squads to fill, so assuming 40 players per squad they have around professional 1200 contracts available. We have less than 200......

We also have the ability to pick from overseas for our national side if we want. Not sure if the French allow this.

I have no issue with Meafou. It’s more annoying to see than wishing he doesn’t succeed. He seems to have been very clear in his desire to play for France.
