Auckland Blues To Infinity and Beyond

Never to go Eden Park again? It's a short train from Britomart. Heck you can even walk to it from the CBD.

Having said that - Quay Park looks good if they can somehow get it funded - get Blues, Warriors, new Auckland A League team, ABs, women's teams playing there. Brilliant.

^ Unless you're on a chartered bus Hamilton to Eden Park for a night game is a nightmare & getting home is worse. At least if Quay Park happens there's only one change of bus or train not two & it looks a much shorter/ easier walk (an important consideration when you're near as dammit 60 & have dicky knees & hips).

Proper intercity rail around the upper North Island (at least) would solve that issue, especially for a Quay Street stadium. Alas, the central governments either hate rail (as does NZTA) or are too scared to implement it.

...if they can somehow get it funded...

Not 100% sure but I believe this is a privately funded plan. The land at least is owned by Ngāti Whātua who must be loaded, or otherwise have the ability to access plenty of capital. Though stadiums are expensive. Let alone one that includes a full precinct development.

NZRFU To Pay For Akira Ioane Statue.

--NZ Herald--

An unnamed ex-Auckland Blues assistant coach has announced the bill for the statue of departing Auckland Blues legend Akira Ioane and its transport costs to its eventual eternal home outside Eden Park will be footed by the NZRFU.

The statue in question.

The unnamed ex-Auckland Blues assistant coach in question.

"Yeah, Silverlake money, surely that should cover the costs" continued the unnamed ex-coach. "I mean, that is what the pricks are paying us for isn't it? Good-o, it's settled then."

Suppose the big question is who replaces Ioane at blindside. Suafoa would be an ideal candidate if he can get back to his 2023/24 form.

Otherwise not sure who there is in the current squad. Choat lacks the physical power. Ditto Segner. idk what's happening with Ekuasi following the Rebels issues but he could be a good candidate, if they could get him back.

2024 Segner definitely wouldn't fit the role imo; he's better suited to openside. He could bulk up over the off-season so we'll wait and see. I do remain skeptical atm.

EDIT: Apparently James Thompson is primarily a flanker. He was solid filling in at lock at the back end of the season so could be another option.

Inside The Auckland Blues Killdozer

GQqm1AybsAAWs3O

"What is the Auckland Blues Killdozer?" you may ask.

To answer your question it is a boomfa-generated killing machine that plows through all obstructions in its path en route to the rugby football tryline.

Resistance is futile you absolute ******* ******* *** ************s.

Let's take a look behind the meticulous planning involved to build the perfect murder machine,

The Auckland Blues Killdozer.

The Killdozer is honed and developed in a secret underground training facility located in downtown Onehunga.

On to the guts of the operation:

This is what the members of the Killdozer hive all see in concurrence as they plow in unison towards the rugby football tryline.

Take that "both sides of the ball" dogshit and pound it right up ya clacka Scottie Foster.

Disingenuous fucker is trying to bring Richie Mounga back from Japan, the guy who was such a "1 side of the ball" test match flop of a player that the ABs had to hide him on defence on the sideline behind the motherfucking winger.

Vikena and Tangitau have moved to the Highlanders on two year contracts.

Was worried Vikena might leave when Eklund was consistently being picked ahead of him at the back end of the regular season. He's a good, physical player, and only 23. Hopefully the Blues can get him back after this brief Highlanders affair. In the mean time, 32 year old Eklund is going to have to keep performing until a Super Rugby level replacement is ready.

I think it's the right move for both Vikena and the Blues. Vikena just didn't progress after multiple years at the Blues and under two different coaching staffs.

Hopefully for him a fresh start and a new environment will kick start his career. The talent is there but for whatever reason the Blues environment wasn't doing it for him.

He was going nowhere at the Blues unfortunately.

I really hope the Auckland NPC performance is a case of everyone relaxing after winning Super Rugby; because watching so many Blues players play so badly is worrying.

(Posted mid way through watching Auckland v Canterbury- a game most notable for TJ losing his shit multiple times in the commentary box on the back of some horrible play).
