Dunno, while you lot struggle to find a logo for your team, the Kings are going great guns preparing for this one. They have prepare for this and will be ready put a real effort on the table.

it makes more sense to have an Australian team in an Australian conference.
You lot keep saying it, doing it will help the cause. You have done sweet nothing thus far.

Surely this is classic Saffa negotiating? Everytime SANZAR want to do anything, they come up with some outrage or cockamamie idea that they trade off for some concession along the way.

South African team based in South Africa, playing in Australian conference. Fucking crazy.

No its not, it can happen. If ONeil and his gang spend less money on high paid League players and develop rugby at roots level it will help for a start.

Gentlemen, please, a little less digression?

I don't know what is the arbitration process. Could someone please explain it and then we can opine on whether the process itself might favour Melbourne or PE.

Which, frankly, reflects not on them, but on your negotiators; it means that SA get more out of you than you get out of them. Being frank, John O'Neill's record in his second stint hasn't been exactly stellar in this regard.

I think it will swing Victoria's way.

A) The flights are too much of a significant journey for just one week.
B) Broadcasters would rather swing towards Melbrourne

However, don't rule them out. It just doesn't seem logical to give the team to SA. Anyone have a clue on when arbitration will occur?

Uhm, I think we all established it's crazy - a long time ago. The Kings want the franchise and how can you blame them for that? They are a commercial entity who have played the political process perfectly with SARU. There is money to be e and they don't give a toss. I bet that the likes of Hoskins in his heart of hearts knows that SA should not have another team but he has to play along because this thing goes all the way to the top in the government. I suspect Hoskins wants to keep his job.

And it's just that. A negotiation. If SARU can get away with any "tactics" it's because they are doing better job of negotiating than JON and his Kiwi mate.

Anyhoo, any arbitrator with a bit of common sense and half a brain will give thing to Melbourne which is where it should go and we all know that.

Working in a three party system where everyone has a veto cuts down the negotiating positions to three fifths of fuck all.

It relies on all parties seeing sense for the greater good and acting as adults, which is where it all breaks down as soon as SARU opens its gob.

Considering the sway of the other two parties involved and the relative position of Australian rugby, I'd say JO'Ns not done too badly.

Do you and Blue have some cunning plan for how you get SARU to play ball while giving nothing away?

No idea. Is this the first time they've used it? Off the top of my head I can't remember another.

Thomo when it comes to anything JON related, you are about as neutral as battery acid.

Now, I grant you, I'm not the man's biggest fan; but even such a mythical creature would have to acknowledge that when you look at the way he's managed to turn almost everyone against the ARU and systematically lost influence over and over and over again, the "John O'Nell Guide to Making Friends and Influencing People" is unlikely to trouble the top of the best-sellers list any time soon. ;)

And just to make it clear, the NZRU have made a holy hames of it as well.
