All Blacks & All Blacks XV EOYT 2024

Jason Ryan dropped a pretty broad hint that Lakai will be the starting 7 which makes more sense to me than the reshuffle some have been advocating. Sititi's time at 8 will come in due course, ATM he looks pretty damn good at 6 so why shift him unless you have to?

Ntamack is injured again, which normally leaves Jalibert as his replacement, as we saw Jalibert start throughout the 6N and RWC. But he's now been dropped from this weekend's match with Thomas Ramos most likely starting at 10. Jalibert is at least 3rd in line then, wonder if he has an Aussie grandma. Incredible depth by France.

Dupont has been crook but will play. Cros a big miss.

I find this french team really, really uninspiring. Alldritt has been poor, their backrow is not threatening, Roumat shouldn’t be an international. I think Meafou and Flament aren’t working well in the 2nd row and Baille is a big loss.

I really think NZ’s forwards are going to walk over them.

I fancy Alldritt to step up but back row has to be suspect. Ollivon benched because, apparently, his work rate has dropped off. Ramos at 10. Pffft. A lot resting on Dupont and Fichou. There's an element of perversity about the selection.

AB have done the loose forward reshuffle:

All Blacks: Tamaiti Williams, Codie Taylor, Tyrel Lomax, Scott Barrett (C), Tupou Vaa’i, Samipeni Finau, Ardie Savea (VC), Wallace Sititi, Cam Roigard, Beauden Barrett, Caleb Clarke, Jordie Barrett (VC), Reiko Ioane, Sevu Reece, Will Jordan. Reserves: Asafo Aumua, Ofa Tu’ungafasi, Pasilio Tosi, Patrick Tuipulotu, Peter Lakai, Cortez Ratima, Anton Lienert-Brown, Damien McKenzie.

Why bench Aumua after his best test? Just let him keep rolling along accruing test match experience. The two minutes of scraps he's typically been getting off the bench isn't going to achieve anything.

Predicted Sevu Reece carrying statistics:
Metres carried sideways: 738
Metres carried backwards: 69
Metres carried forward: 3

It reminds me of the French teams from 5 years ago, 35% world beaters, 40% acceptable internationals and 25% wouldn't be selected for any other nation.

Apparently there's a virus going around the team hence Dupont training separately, and Antonio and Penaud having left the squad. Easiest chance for the Darkness to get a win in France.

Is there a player that gets a more charmed selection run than Beauden the last 5 years?

Straight back into the 10 shirt....
I didn't want to broach the subject as its not good for my blood pressure. Might have to sit this convo out.

If this jammy prick passes Mccaw on the alltime caps list I am making a distraught 3am telephone call to the Cyclo household to voice my concerns at a leisurely length.

I love that you guys hate Barrett. I asked a 'Canes supporter this morning if she loved Jordie and she said she actually didn't like him or rate him. If Aus had the Barrett Dynasty we wouldn't shut the fuck up about it.

I don't hate Beauden Barrett at all. First half of his career Beauden was an excitement machine and right up there as the best player in the world in his prime

Second half of his career Beauden however - he just spams kicks like he's playing EA Rugby 08 and takes on the line with as much vigor as my dead grandma.

For want of a better comparison he's the Virat Kohli of NZ Rugby.

Rare Hurricanes fan W.

I'd be much more tolerable of Beauden's nonsense if we also didn't have to suffer it at the Blues as it becomes year-round punishment. Hopefully Cotter continues living up to his moniker and puts his foot down on the circus.

"First five-eighth Matthieu Jalibert chose not to be picked as a reserve for France against the All Blacks this weekend, coach Fabien Galthié confirmed."

How very French.
