All Blacks & All Blacks XV EOYT 2024

Not a neck roll
I agree but when you’ve got your arm around a dude’s neck you only need a bit of bad luck and you’re pinged.

NZ were a good rugby football team today and I was behind them but jeez these commentators were whinging like the calls were outrageous and they weren’t. The Tamati obstruction was clear into the running path and under the new interpretation that’s a clear pen. Ref named the wrong player at the maul but ultimately three all blacks were pushing at 90 degrees. Neck roll was unfortunate but it was an NZ clear out and he did have his arm around the neck.

Enjoyed that game. French made the most of the AB's mistakes with some gas out wide. If they'd cleaned up an error or two (really not that many) I actually think the AB's looked the better team overall and should have won that game. The French didn't have to work very hard for a score or so.

I'd be curious what peoples thoughts were on them (AB) not going to the corner for any of those penalties when behind? I appreciate there was still time on the clock but it really spoke to a certain mindset.

The referee seemed really reluctant to call any penalties. That roll and flip on head for Ardie in the ruck that the TMO had to call in was so obvious I don't know why the referee wasn't calling that.

I also thought the French were lucky to not get pinged for more offsides. It's hard to have a clear view with the camera angle we get, but to my eyes they were creeping in front a lot, some setting off before the ball had been clearly lifted. A number of times they looked not to be setting behind last feet also.

Agreed. I don't like when commentators do this because it adds to the general public whinging as well and not understanding the laws, their purpose etc.

These are the rules. Things have moved on. They have a purpose (namely player safety). Get behind it. Educate the public. It's like head high collisions, it's about changing behaviour. Some will unfortunately happen without intent or even I suspect due to poor form, that's just part of the game. You put an arm around a kneck then you run the risk. You run into a tackle too upright, you run the risk.

I'm also pretty sure the focus on kneck rolls/croc rolls came in because the player groups were pushing/advocating for it. None of these players want their careers and livelihood ended by such an action.

Players like Pocock must be looking at this and thinking about time. The fact that WR (World Rugby) allowed this style to be a feature of cleanouts during his time was frankly disgusting.

1-pt loss, not sure there will be a huge amount of fucks given. Pre-tour most would have feared the worst but Tour is a success

Worlds Greatest Ever Player Dupont, GTFO I'll take Roigard thanx

The Brit comms were great fun. 1 bloke just kept calling Caleb "Eroni Clarke" for an entire half. At one stage he even said "Eroni Clarke's father also played for the All Blacks"

D.Paps seems to have missed the boat being stuck for years behind the coaches pet Cane. Looks like Lakai time now

Ratima's spot surely under pressure after a disastrous cameo

Golden Boy Wallace was sloppy

LOL@Reece's All Black career being ended in real time as the frog outran the head-patting little dickhead like he wasn't even there. Subbed immediately oh ok bye bye then forever shithead

Enjoyable test

I agree the NZ comms are a punishing listen

ABs need to bite the bullet and move on from some of these past it players - namely Reece and ALB

It's criminal there have been 13 tests this year and the likes of Ruben Love and AJ Lam have basically not been sighted. Love at 15 (Jordan at 14) and Lam in the 23 shirt would have been far better options today.

Should be a good battle for the backup 9 jersey next season. Ratima has been up and down - hasn't done enough to nail down the 21 shirt.

wft was Captain Scrote doing?? Zero trust in his own lineout and maul

"You don't beat the Crusaders by taking 3's... but you can beat my All Blacks cos we take 3's?"

I said it after the England test. Jordan just doesn't seem that smart sometimes. The way he went in so upright at the end. I could see him getting held up the moment he had the ball. I don't even know why he was injecting himself into the line there. It was a sad way for that test to end.

Personally, I've wondered if you change your centers and consider someone like Jordie at fullback again. Such a better kicker and smarter player than Jordan. I just don't know if he still has the gas anymore? Or do you just bite the bullet and do the Beauden/Damian 10/15 setup again.

Also, Roigard is your 9. He needs to speed up some of his clearing, but besides that he is a cut above Ratima for me from the tests we've seen so far.

Or - as I said - give Love a crack at 15. You don't have to have a Barrett at 15

Drives me utterly mental. Why its been decreed and accepted as fact that all 3 are the "spine" of the team is beyond me. You CAN drop one of them! Just cos theyve decided amongst themselves that all 3 of them get to run out first as Most Important Senior Players dont make it so.

Would love to see the shitty win % when all 3 start a test.

Watching the game on an iPhone, it was hard to tell whether the long passages of play where the darkness had the ball, did they have nothing in attack or were the French that good at defence?

Normally we see so many players / decoys in motion by the ABs, but they seemed quite pedestrian.

"Captain Scott Barrett has conceded he may have made the wrong call by electing to kick for goal, instead of attempting to score a try, when the All Blacks were rewarded with a late penalty during the 30-29 defeat to France in Paris on Sunday morning (NZT)."

I'm very much a "take the three & get back down there" guy who loathes being second-guessed & tries very hard to not second-guess other people but ffs ScoBar taking the three wasn't the right call at that moment. It wasn't like the line out was malfunctioning & Colombe was largely a passenger by then so he should've rolled the dice.

French defence stepped up in the second half. Smothering. Love to know what was said in the French rooms at HT.
