2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Ideally I’d like FTA to be able to provide the local teams game live each week. That way people get exposed to their team, while Fox can continue to keep most of the games behind a paywall. Eg. All Tahs games shown live into NSW, Rebels into Vic on channel 10 and then fox can still cash in on rugby consumers looking for more etc. initially I think it’d be easier to drive audiences this way, and then look at providing more FTA content once there is demand for it

One thing people don’t realize with Super Rugby is it’s lack of appeal to a FTA broadcaster because their isn’t consistency in time slots. NRL/AFL etc. can provide structure for their other programming to work around. People are very habitual in their viewing and it’s not ideal to provide content that isn’t consistent.

You can also add to that we don't have enough product, we only have 4 teams, not enough local content to create interest.

Average crowd halfway through the season

Tahs 15,100 *missing 1 SCG game so probably lower
Reds 12,900
Force & Brumbies on 9,200
Rebels - *missing 3 games (11k but sample too small)

Across the season, Australian rugby sides are averaging 66,000 viewers on Foxtel for the year, up from the 60,000 reported by Fairfax media in May 2018. While, the average for all Super Rugby matches is less than 62,000.

Just less than 62k? Because even then from memory last season the avg was 54k across all Super Rugby matches so that a fair boost.

10,114 for the top of the conference clash between NSW Waratahs and Melbourne Rebels at the SCG
Glad they've got no more games there. It's a terrible venue to watch rugby. There was a lot of talk on forums from christians boycotting because of Israel's sacking
I hope they draw a decent crowd at Parramatta...looks like an impressive stadium

Crowd + Atmosphere at Moondogs looked amazing. very noisy - better than any Oz crowd.
Good thing there being cut, can't have vocal rugby crowds.
