A - league is in real trouble huh
Yeh it’s not going very well for the a-League. I can tell you there is a fta network floating around the idea of engaging in more a-League rights tho. It’s very much at the inquiring stage tho, they are wanting to see what happens with the transition over to an independent league structure.
It's the network that declared bankruptcy last year. No doubt the rights would be very cheap.

Gallop desperately trying to drive some interest in the FTA rights for next season.
Ten would have to be mad to a) pay for it and b) show it at any important time when advertiser's might be interested. Could you think of a better way to lose money?
Whatever the future holds for the A-League specifically it's inconceivable that professional soccer wouldn't exist in this country in some form or other, or that it wouldn't be broadcast.
It has been quite a strange sort of season in that the top six were basically determined halfway through, leaving the bottom four basically playing for pride for the last few months. I don't blame the fans of the stragglers for not turning up - there's not even the prospect of avoiding relegation to keep them motivated. Hopefully next season will be more competitive across the board and people will tune in again.
Not that I'm complaining as a Glory fan, mind you.
But the poor ratings aren't just confined to the 4 bottom sides. It's right across the board.
Ten would be mad to put more rugby on to. They already put the tests on, and the Argentina game is their lowest rating slot all year - Super rugby games are much less popular than even that test match. And we cannot get our game on FTA in at least some capacity, how? The A-League is tanking making our ratings look out of this world. If it does get what it wants and we don't get something then we're truly up the creek.

And as we have seen with A-league on one, having regular FTA games has made no difference to the sports popularity.
