6 October 2012: Round 6
20:10 (local) Argentina vs Australia - Estadio Gigante de Arroyito, Rosario
Referee: C. Joubert (SARU); AR: J. Peyper (SARU), P. Gauzere (FFR); TMO: UAR appt

The Men in Gold will make this trip to Roasrio with an injury list as long as Napoleon's on the retreat from Moscow in 1812. The team will be desperate to put the disappointment of Loftus, and the Quadegate toxicity scandal behind them and establish their credentials for selection on the European Spring Tour.

Los Pumas will be targeting this as a game that they can win against an understrength Wallaby team. They showed plenty of ticker in their previous match against the Saffers which was a draw. They have every right to believe that that game was one that they let go.

This game will be after the progressive states in Australia go to Daylight Savings time, so be warned when setting your alarms and reminders. Kick off will be at the same local time as it was for the round 5 game between Pumas and Darkness which was Sunday 9:10 kickoff (Sydney Time).

After that stay with Fox 3 to see the Aust Schoolboys take on the Darkness Schoolboys in the "Test".

At least Tapuai has been playing well in club footy unlike McCabe who only got 30 minutes before being declared ready. But you're right, identifying in form players as options to injuries should be dismissed because they come from Queensland..

Patience Jiggles, Tapui's time will come. I'd rather not have him Quaded by all and sundry yet.

and the bench is Frisby, Lucas, Davies, Morahan and Lance, amirite?

McCabe has been about our only back that goes forward. Dropping him for Tapuai because he played well in club footy is a joke.
My point had nothing to do with him being a Red and my reference to his GF performance was in how he's recovered from his injury. I don't see what McCabe offers that Tapuai doesn't. Tapuai has the speed to go wide and the size to make yards like McCabe, and he does this other thing called passing..

I don't know if you can argue Tapuai runs straight harder than McCabe - he might pass, step, kick and make a pavlova better than him but he does not run harder in a straight, well picked line

We are down to our 3rd XV, there will be enough rookies out there without making unforced replacements like this.
Spring tour is perfect for him.

i chuckle at the idea that one can conclude that Tapuai is McCabe plus more at test level after Tapuai has played 3 whole minutes of test rugby.

No need to start a 60 page thread. Once you show the naysayers this little map they can finally comprehend that in WA and Qld we get 1-2 hours more sunlight hours a day than they do anyway. Just a few of the benefits of not residing in antarctic latitudes or behind large mountain ranges when the sun sets behind them.

Sorry, back on topic....I would love to see Tapuai get a start at 13.

Somehow I can't imagine Deans to be the sort of coach who is good at firing blokes up. I might be wrong but I just can't see it. Maybe this isn't what is done in this professional age but in the situation we are in now we need it. Maybe they should fly someone over there to hand out the jerseys before the game who'll rev them up. The thing is, I think this team has plenty of heart. It's just that it often doesn't show until they are well behind on the score board and the game is slipping away from them. They need to come out of the sheds breathing fire.

He changed his running style?
When did he die with the ball with players open outside him?
He did let one get get outside him once, one poster incorrectly called him out of position for their first try, when else was he positionally poor?
BTW, when he ran too upright against the Irish, they held him up and forced the scrum. This was possible because our piggies were not right behind him at contact.
Had he run with lower body height, he would have been grounded and required to place the ball. What would have happened then?
The numpties would have bagged him for poor leg drive, and for being unable to hold his feet until the cavalry arrived.

I don't think McCabe should be dropped, but he did get out of position in defence. Have a look at what he does to allow Goosen through on his disallowed try.

Morahan wont be picked, he hasnt been involved in the Wallaby squad and thus doesn't suit RD criteria.. he will be a bench player at best.

I hope he does because the alternative is to have Harris at 10 and Beale at 15, and I think that is a backwards step.

I understand that Morahan and Neville have been called over.

I expect this backline:

Phipps
Harris
Ioane
McCabe
Fainga'a
Shipperly
Beale

I want this backline:

Phipps
Ioane
Beale
McCabe
Tapuai
Shipperly
Morahan

Why I think Horwill is the best captain. Fire, power, passion and nous.

Anyone see significant increase in our stocks when we head to Europe? How many of the injured XV do we expect to return? A couple?

If you go back and check the history of these things you'll find Queensland DID try daylight saving in the early 70s. Due to its proximity to the equator and the resulting abundant hours of sunshine in summer the Queensland Government of the day sensibly abandoned it.

Nice to see Queensland awarding life peerages posthumously, and the current government's insisting the legal profession call new silks QCs not SCs. What next? Women banned from public bars? Drinking age raised to 21? Universal suffrage adandoned in favour of the landed gentry? Rugby league supporters shot on sight?

Fat cats playing future is on the fence - he obviously nowdays does not have the motor to play 80. Is now fairly poor around the field even in 30. The extra prop on the bench may extend his career.
am looking forward to Ryan getting a cap - hopefully this weekend against the Argies
