If you have an 8 and 6 that are lineout options along with the other lock.........you need a huge mutha to lift the others.........and he hurts people. I like the size, physicality, brutality and mongrel he brings. We have enough forwards already that like to stand on the wing or in the centres

He is a bit of a necessary evil. I think we have to stick with him and hope those simple errors are erased from his game.

Or, we ould fire the useless shite coaching the Wallabies, and employ the coach who has consistently been abel to draw the best out of Genia, Cooper, Horwill, Fainga'a x 2, Morahan, Simmons, Slipper, Holmes etc etc.

Deans makes these players regress, Link makes them PROGRESS. Its a no fucking brainer. We just barely scraped by to a win over Argentina.

An amatuer rugby nation, playing away from home, in their first season in a major competition, after 3 hard physical games against our main opponents.

Add that to his spectacular list of achievements:

Losing all games we've played against Scotland.
Losing to Ireland in the WC.
Getting flogged by the Boks.
A 14-3 win loss ratio against NZ
Losing a home series to England.
Losing to England twice, away.
Losing to Samoa, at home.
Losing to a fucking Irish provincial team, and a 2nd rate one at that.
Winning one trophy of note, in 5 years.

Phipps is rubbish, there are a number of halfbacks who are a better option. Including one former Tah who was underplayed last year and told he wasn't wanted.

Agree. Phipps is toilet. I don't like the indecision at the back of the rucks. The pick and swivel and blind passes to the other side of the ruck because he can't read the game causes a few problems.......it is slow service, telegraphs the next play, allows the defence 2 metres to smash our runners behind the advantage line, potentially allows intercepts and is a 4 lane highway to the coaching bow that he can't read the play or have an instinct for where the play should go. His service to Cooper was ordinary. He was late to rucks and Cooper had to go in and play halfback. Another Robbie Deans mystery.

What adjective would you use? He had plenty of time and got a very decent bounce, what went wrong then?

A forward pass inside your 22 is a pretty big mistake.

I like Quade Cooper but tonight he had a shocker.

I do not think that Quade had the best of games tonight. However, I do believe that he is currently the best flyhalf in Australia.

Let me guess, if he was a Tah it wouldn't have been a bad game from him?

Seriously, this state parochialism has to end. Irrespective of the province, at the end of the day when the boys put on the gold jumper, they are transcending state borders. Unfortunately, I do believe that some of us supporters are not realising this fact.

I understand that heavy criticism has been directed towards Waratahs players in the national setup. In some cases this is warranted. Sometimes the criticism is a result of state bias, which is not warranted. Attacking a player because he plays for a different provincial team than the one you support degenerates into an argument that is neither logical or constructive.

In fairness though mate, who else is there at present?

It doesn't alter the validity of your points, but I'm scratching my head as to our other options.

Cooper was alright, I thought. He's *trying* to put people in gaps all night and he didn't do anything *too* stupid.

Yes, forward passes on your own 22 are shit but that was an execution thing. More than half the posters here want to see them "keep the ball in hand" so you can't moan when he attempts to do so. He just fucked it up.

Stupidity irritates the hell out of me. Execution errors I can live with.

He had one good tactical kick (which the argie had to carry over the line) so that's an improvement from the 0 (from the entire team) we had seen all tournament previously.

I would still pick Cooper to play 10 in the next test.

I don't think it is a case of parochialism.

Cooper had a shocker tonight no matter which provincial team you support.

Intercepts and charge downs are just not acceptable. I can forgive forward passes and knock ons and even the plethora of missed tackles. Intercepts and charge downs are things that cost you matches as we nearly saw, simple as that.

Moving on from the endless circle of cooper talk. Does anyone know the deal with shipperly and his thumb? They made it sound horrible.

JOC (James O'Connor) was sitting with the players......inclusion for south Africa?

I was surprised Shipperley came back on. If it indeed was a compound dislocation, they are normally pretty nasty. It will be an interesting choice to see if they let him keep playing or treat it and let it heal.

I read during the week that they'd decided JOC (James O'Connor) wasn't ready to tour and would continue his rehab in Australia. Unless something dramatic has happened, I don't think he'll play a part in the Rugby Championship.

So he should, he's the 10 that's his job. I do not doubt his play-making ability one bit but until he can stop the errors he shouldn't be there, they're too costly.

If Shipperley is out I'd expect a straight swap with Cummins.

Cooper needs to stay at 10. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 13 and probably McCabe at 12.
I wouldn't mind seeing Sheehan given a start next week to see what he has.
I thought Phipps actually provided quicker service than WG has lately. He was just a little unsure of where to go at times and this caused some unforced errors. Give the bloke a break though, he really has not had any game time at this level to speak of. The tap then kick out on the full was a little rich!

Who should play instead of cooper, then?

So, we're bagging his forward pass.

However, why would he pass it forward, unless whoever was in front of him was too retarded to get into fucking position?
