That's a bit rich. Pulling pillar and or post into the ruck is a move straight out of the All Blacks playbook. I think it's also a stretch to say that the "impeded" player would've made the tackle. Off balanced and falling backward before TPN grabbed his boot.

I think it's a bit rich that not one single person (commentator nor G&G member) has mentioned it but if the reverse were true you'd all be up in arms. And quite frankly it's an out and out penalty no matter which team commits it, I don't like any team getting away with it (a.l.a the obstruction in the S15 final). Your interpretation that it would have been 'a stretch' is firstly wrong and secondly irrelevant because the defender should be allowed to attempt the tackle in the first place. Nick Phipps is no Will Genia, it's a little extraordinary that he waltzed through that Argentine back line untouched.

I haven't rewatched the game and I've had about 10 beers, but I'll have a go at starting the list.

1. Forward pass in our 22 that Barnes couldn't catch.
2. Threw an intercept to Argentina
3. Threw a forward, bounce pass to Argentina
4. Casually dropped the ball coming back into his 22 to field a kick forcing Ioane to be offside giving away 3 points.
5. Getting charged down resulting in a try against the Wallabies.

Casually? Quoting Marto? I dont think there's anything casual about the fly half having to sprint back to do the fullbacks job.

The bounce pass and forward pass are hardly big mistakes forward passes happen and the bounce pass was because of a lack of clear runners ( now I am quoting Marto)

People need to get of cooper back. I hate how people bag him and say how he makes 5 or 6 mistakes but he gets 50 individual possessions a game and was a catalyst tonight for our team getting over the advantage line. I gotta tell you cooper may have let in a try but he got us into the position to score 4

Wasn't Barnes supposed to score every point hence his selection at 15?

Anyway I degres. As alway the pack was rubbish around the park. Douglas was hefty, as was Hooper. Starting front row was poor as always. Because of no front foot ball the Backs looked crap with Cooper making a number of mistakes, a fair few unforced. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) did a number of good things in defense, but was equally rubbish in attack. Ioane and Shipperley did a ton of work which wasn't their responsibility - they can hold their heads high.

Just a typical Deans close shave win really. Let the mediocracy roll on!

I think this is a harsh reflection on the game.

Barnes was certainly down on last week with his goalkicking hitting the post on his first two kicks. Aside from that I he thought had a really good game. He was really strong under the high ball which is something we've really struggled with lately. His positional play was fine and he provided decent options returning the ball.

I thought the front row started really well. Our scrum had parity for the first 30 minutes until Robinson came off and we gave away a couple of penalties. Slipper and Alexander were both good around the park. Robinson is getting back towards being the really strong scrummager he is renowned for.

Cooper had a poor game with a number of clangers but did provide a couple of highlights on attack. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) was fine. Ioane had an excellent game and Shipperley was ok. I think he came back to Earth a little after last week. He had a solid game but was by no means a standout.

I thought we showed far more intent with our game plan. Our execution is what was poor. I think anyone trying to blame that performance on the coach is really clutching at straws.

What adjective would you use? He had plenty of time and got a very decent bounce, what went wrong then?

A forward pass inside your 22 is a pretty big mistake.

I like Quade Cooper but tonight he had a shocker.

Cooper was shithouse, but it happens. Heck he spent 3 seasons being shithouse for Queensland before he came good. In any case it's not like we really have other options at flyhalf at the moment.

The thing is, why is he making these errors. If he was taking risks, having a go etc. you might excuses some of the errors as part of his play but they're just not acceptable. He throws the most intercepts out of any international flyhalf. Why? It's like he's too stubborn or something to not pass the ball. He's throwing them straight to the opposition when they race up. The fumble that led to Ioane's offside was just disgraceful. Way too casual, over confidence?? Zero urgency to get back.

I will agree to disagree. I am just sick of the crap that this team dishes up. Even the Boks got over this team by more, and more comprehensively, then us at home. I think a few blokes can hold their heads up high (who I have mentioned), but a number of the established stars and untouchables have been putting in mediocre performances for weeks on end now.

A locking combination of Timani and Douglas, while uncouth, would sure silence some critics.
My only concern is how does a guy like Timani get to where he is (apparently one of our national teams first picked locks) without contributing to our lineout. It seems to me this should be his bread and butter with his play in the loose and tight would be the bonus. He is only saved by having some amazing options in our backrow. Without Higgers, Samo or Dennis in the lineup, I would suggest Timani wouldn't even be a viable option.

I thought it was another very ordinary performance. The first half was ugly.

It does show some character when you are down 2 tries, playing badly and then fiind something to win

Does our backline train together? half the passes are behind the man. Tonight there was a heap of passes to nobody.

Cooper had an FF (Folau Fainga'a) night but his service from Phipps was rubbish. The passes were over his head, behind him, too far in front of him or along the ground to 13. Phipps was too slow to a lot of breakdowns. He did set up a try for Ioane but he ignored 3 calls to the backs as he kept working the short side. Luckily for him he opened up the Argies and put Ioane into space.

The only good thing about the game was the wallabies found a way to win.

Those box kicks continue to be the worst of both worlds - no possession and no position.

Why is it that even halfbacks that are clearly not accomplished kickers feel the need to demonstrate their (lack of) kicking skills in a test match? Phipps actually has a decent pass. Shame he has no brains.

He ran from the opposite wing to get back! Most intercepts of any international flyhalf? Where do you find these stats? I don't think overconfidence is an issue and if it is well let him be he has one super championship more than any other current oz flyhalf

He more than made up for his mistakes his pass to mcabe for the try, his pass to sharpe his general pressure building. One of those players unless he plays the perfect game people will knock him.

On another note did they say at one stage shipperly had a bone sticking out of his thumb?

Phipps is rubbish, there are a number of halfbacks who are a better option. Including one former Tah who was underplayed last year and told he wasn't wanted...

But then again I suppose as a junior there was nobody in his age group who could lift him, so he never developed his jumping skills.

The kicking in general remains fairly shit. Why are we so far behind our peers at kicking out of hand? Neither Barnes or Cooper seem capable of kicking the ball out or into space. It's almost always straight down the middle and straight down someone's throat. Are they stupid, incompetent, or both?
