Well that'll give him time to sort out his deal with the NRL then.

Wtf is JO'N doing fucking around with his contract for so long. All the Reds members are going to be happy with their "QC10" collectors item t-shirts if it all falls through.

Because Quade has a manager well known for his upfront and timely contract negotiations...

Press release in:

Quade Cooper to miss rest of The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship

Qantas Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper has been ruled out of the remainder of The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship. Scans in Brisbane today have revealed that Cooper has a small chip of articular cartilage in his right knee which will need to be attended to.

While the injury will require an operation to clean up and is to the same knee that was operated on after last year’s Rugby World Cup, it is not a long term injury and so may not rule Cooper out of the Qantas Wallabies Spring Tour in November.

A decision on the flyhalf’s availability for that trip will be made once his rehabilitation is underway.

The 28-man Qantas Wallabies squad for the away leg of The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship, which features Tests in South Africa and Argentina, will be named tomorrow.

The team departs for South Africa on Thursday morning.

Rebels pairing in the halves. Keep Barnes at full-back, I trust him under the high-ball compared to Beale.

Bloody hell, another injury. It's been a long time since I can remember the list being as bad as this. Maybe at the end of Eddie's reign when we had Mat Rogers playing 10?

Hmmm. I don't think that sounds like enough to keep him from playing. I am sure if they wanted him he could have waited until after the TRC to have it cleaned up.

The choices are poor. One bloke has been moved twice just to keep him in the 15, the other has been dropped to the bench. Now we have to choose one to play the toughest position in one of the toughest locations? Crap.

I'd go Beale. We need to score points.

Beale to 10 for my preference.

The Rebels game where he replaced JOC (James O'Connor) at 10, he gave them a lot more penetration in attack than O'Connor. I don't see JOC (James O'Connor) as being a genuine option at 10, 12 maybe, but not 10.

I really don't want to see Beale at 10. His confidence and fitness haven't improved since Bled 1. Rather than persist with the same old players who are showing SFA i'd like to see something new. Douglas and Shipperley have made big contributions and done very well after being given a chance.

1. Slipper
2. TPN
3. Alexander (never thought i'd support that)
4. Sharpe
5. Douglas
6. Dennis
7. Hooper
8. Samo

9. Phipps
10. Barnes
11. Ioane
12. Tapuai
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. Shipperley
15. McCabe

16. Moore
17. Kepu (if fit)
18. Timani
19. Higgers
20. Sheehan
21. Beale
22. Cummins

NSW Waratahs prop Paddy Ryan and Western Force winger Nick Cummins are the only uncapped players named in the 28-man Qantas Wallabies squad for The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship away leg confirmed today.
Ryan and Cummins, who both featured in last weekend’s Shute Shield final in NSW club rugby, have trained with the national squad throughout the Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship without being required to don a jersey on match night.
The squad, which departs in the morning, is missing flyhalf Quade Cooper, who was last night ruled out by a knee cartilage injury which will require an operation.
The group does include the previously injured trio of hooker Stephen Moore (hamstring), lock Sitaleki Timani (hamstring) and winger Dominic Shipperley (dislocated finger).
All three players are expected to be available for selection for the match night squad for Australia’s first match on the tour, which comes against South Africa at Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria, on Saturday September 29.
The Qantas Wallabies will be bidding for back-to-back wins on the South African high veldt in that match, having clinched an epic 41-39 win at their last attempt at Bloemfontein in 2010, which represented Australia’s first win at altitude in the Republic for 47 years.
Shipperley, who underwent a finger operation on the middle finger of his right hand on Sunday after injuring it in the Test on the Gold Coast the week before, will travel with the squad in the morning.
Three players who won’t are centre Ben Tapuai, inside centre Mike Harris and second row Rob Simmons who have been released to participate in Sunday’s Brisbane club final.
Once through that match, the trio will join the squad in Johannesburg next Tuesday.

It's good that Simmons, Harris and Tapuai are been released to play in the Grand Final..

Thats one very good aspect of Robbie Deans, insisting players participation at club level

The upside

The wallabies are travelling on Thursday and I believe are staying in Pretoria at altitude? I may have got this wrong?

I'm a great believer in acclimatisation. I'm also a great believer in changing the mindset of "camp wallaby Capetown and Durban" to boot camp Pretoria. We are playing hard men in a rugby mad province at altitude. The Aussies need a big dose of harden up. It would be nice if they settled into steak and veg and were up early for training on the high veldt.......all this sunning themselves on the beach and holding hands for photos isn't good preparation for a bokke test on the high veldt.

South African rugby is hard. They also don't cop losing too well. The wallabies are in their sights because we have beat them 5 games in a row or something like that. This is unacceptable to the bok and they will come out breathing fire.

Meanwhile, the wallabies have been affected by the JOC (James O'Connor) and Gits academy of hair styling.

I am a huge fan of Hooper. Isn't it wonderful to see a dynamic wallaby forward with drive, toghness and explosive power. It's incredible to think this bloke is in his first season of professional rugby. Pocock might have to learn how to play 8....and he'd be very good at it too.

If the Bokke pick Goosen, and I think the nation is calling for it so it is likely to happen, the bokke backline will be a seriously different beast. They have some real weapons and with Goosen they might actually use them. The bloke nearly kicked a 60m penalty at sea level also. How far can he kick penalty goals at altitude?

The wallabies better be preparing to score 5 tries if they want to win this test. The bokke will score 20 odd points per half from penalties alone
