The lack of fitness of the Tahs forwards is showing and is a liability. I would bite the bullet and replace some of them. You can't do anything much with conditioning in one week and while players are recovering from the last match.
While losing Pocock is a worry, the far bigger concern is losing Kepu. Not because of his play on the weekend, but because it opens the door for Alexander. The only prop to play looser than Higginbotham. Beale should go to the bench IMHO, not just the mistakes but the lack of zip, his irritation at Sharpe getting the try rather than giving the ball to him and his apparent lack of remorse after the match.
1. Holmes (better LHP than Slipper and covers both sides, anyone but Alexander)
2. Moore (toss of the coin between Moore and TPN but fitness is the decider)
3. Slipper (I would keep Kepu if not injured, can cover both sides, not a great scrumagger but better than Alexander)
4. Sharpe (our best lineout tactician but he still gets isolated too often and has a real talent for falling the wrong way in the tackle and losing the ball)
5. Douglas (we need a TH lock and he is better than Timani, told to play tight and try to be first or second to the breakdown to clear out for Hooper)
6. Dennis (also told to play tight and try to be first or second to the breakdown to clear out for Hooper)
7. Hooper
8. Higginbotham (needs to be told to play tighter in the first couple of phases and then head wider once there is some momentum)
9. Genia (told to pass it quickly unless there is absolutely nobody there, the other players have to up the tempo rather than Genia slow down the tempo for their benefit)
10. Cooper (prone to go into his shell but our best option with his long passing game and lack of passing game in the centres)
11. Ioane
12. Fainga'a (but only until McCabe is back)
13. Ashley-Cooper (not really a winger and Horne needs more experience at lower levels)
14. Mitchell (if he's fit, start him, if not then club rugby, when in form he is as devastating as Ioane in a different way)
15. Barnes (reasonably solid defender and would do better with his tactical game with more time at the back, question marks about the high ball as he doesn't seem to have much of a leap?)
16. Polota-Nau
17. Robinson
18. Timani
19. Samo
20. Gill (make sure he gets a decent amount of game time)
21. Phipps (come back Burgo!)
21. Harris
22. Beale
