Some pretty average defence in the Battle of the Bays, but some bloody exciting rugby.

Even Wallaby inspired Nucifora* kicks are being rewarded.

Score now 38-35 with 15 minutes to go.
Who remembers when S12 rugby had regular scorelines in the 30's?
"Aye, them were the days, Lad" /said in poor pretend Yorkshire accent/

*Nucifora - Faecal Touch (reverse Midas Touch) as defined in another thread as everything touched turns to sh*t.

Yeehar.

Chaz Jarse comes home with a wet sail. Our Bay is "The Bay".

Hawkes Bay win the game coming from behind, 3 minutes after the siren, and not for the first time have they done that.

42-41 points. What a great game of footy?

How good is that rugby? A huge breath of fresh air after Super 15.

80 min: Hawke's Bay 35 - 41 Bay of Plenty
Full time: Hawke's Bay 42 - 41 Bay of Plenty

After the siren try to HB. Ihaia West (this year's u20 first five) showed clean pair of heels from the 40 metre line. He helped save the u20's in South Africa and has done it again. Great game.

HB vs BoP brilliant game. Got bored watching the other footy tonight, so glad I recorded this and avoid the score.

For anyone who is sitting around with not much to do, there is a cracker of a game on right now. Counties v Auckland should be an amazing game with lots of movement. They are both in pretty good form at the moment and score lots of tries.

How many of these ITM cup games are being played well after the bell?

JAFAs vs the Steelers was an exciting game with 4 1/2 minutes of extra time.

Missed it live due to being stuck in the Salt Mines until late. Isn't IQ awesome ? - ITM Cup series link - never miss a game.

Gotta work out how to store the games off the Foxtel machine as our IQ machine is almost chocker.

Any one know how to do this?

And my mob Hawkes Bay win in a kickathon at McLean Park over the Scarfies from Otago 21-15.

Game time was 82 minutes 40 seconds.

Value for money when you buy a ticket to watch a game over there.

The RS game this afternoon between Taranaki and Manawatu was excellent as well, even if it ended up being one sided. Big crowd too, clearly the Shield has regained its lustre during it's time with the Naki and Southland.

Any Shakey Island correspondents able to pass on a comment on how the the ITM Cup has gone down over there this year?

Will they be doing the same condensed format next year?

Do the ratings warrant it being on TV (Sky sports over your way isn't it) again?

It has been an absolute pleasure to watch from over here, made all the more enjoyable having Foxtel IQ allowing games to be recorded for later viewing.

It is so wrong that Australia has to rely on a third tier competition from another nation for a rugby fix.

Baby Jarse can name more players in the Hawkes Bay ITM Cup team than he can for any of the other Australian S15 franchises.

The only guilt I have is that the my ITM Cup team plays in Collingwood colours.

As I type this a BOP fatty (#1) has just sprinted the length of the field to score under the black dot. How good is that?

Down in the Deep South they will know how we feel.

The main difference is that the bulldozer that hit us was painted Green, not red and black.

There has been some opposition from the Unions and the coaches to the condensed format. Basically the Unions - particularly the city ones like Waikato - are complaining that they can't get a big enough gate for the midweek games. The Coaches are complaining that they don't get enough time to properly prepare the players.

Personally I think the format is about right. There are some significant savings in having the format condensed, and I really like being able to watch rugby virtually every night if I wanted to.

I suspect that it will go back to being a longer format in a couple of years. NZRU have indicated that they will review after this year and I expect any changes to take place for 2014.

Dam0, I enjoy watching rugby most nights as well, though to be fair I can understand the coaches porblems, it hard to sort out defensive probs without proper training runs, and probably fairly hard to help some of young players too, but I have heard players quite like it as they enjoy little training and heaps of playing!!

I follow ITM premiership and club and manage to watch a fair bit of the heartland comp as well. I attend local games, sometimes watch but seldom attend super rugby games. Follow all internationals that are televised.
Mind you being retired I have the time to do this.

Waikato take the Shield with a 46-10 win over the Naki. Their first defence will be against Hawkes Bay in 10 days time.

They really shouldn't have to defend it against Hawke's Bay. They've already made a challenge and failed this year.
