Found the answer myself.

The Springboks will be allowed a four-week break after Saturday's Test where fitness will remain a priority.

They will not be in a national training camp but will do their reconditioning with their different unions.

The Boks will, however, not be allowed to take part in the Currie Cup competition except for the last round and the play-offs.

All the Boks are expected to be released for those three weeks from October 9 (last round), October 16 (semifinals) and October 30 (Final).

Disappointing weekend for us WP supporters. Myself expect the loss against the Lions who are on the up with Mitchell. Anyway expect to see a return with Muskiet , Juan de Jongh and possibly Jean de Villiers after the Tri Nation disaster. The good news for WP is that after their losing streak they are still in second spot but the bad news is that they cant afford another loss starting from this weekend. Our Youth teams have had great results and the U19s still unbeaten.

Myself think all the Boks should go back to CC rugby to get them back into shape for EYT. They have way to leaniant with this senior lot. Havent watched any CC rugby over the weekend and I am glad I did not.

Brutes taking a 4 weeks rest are Danie Rossouw, Matfield, Spies, Morne Steyn and Wynand Olivier. Back this week for CC action against the Tin Ears in Osfontein are Bakkies Botha, Klein Flippie, Hougaard, ChilliBoy and from injuries Stegman and Gary Botha.

THE South African Rugby Union (Saru) has issued a blanket ban on all contracted Springboks from taking part in the Absa Currie Cup until October 6.

While this was the original arrangement with the rugby unions across the country, it was changed during the Vodacom Tri-Nations when it became apparent that certain top-level players would need a lot more game time because of injuries and suspensions.

However, SuperSport reported on its website yesterday that after a conference call with national teams manager Andy Marinos in Sydney, it was decided to issue the blanket ban, even though it made little sense.

According to Saru yesterday, the players will only be allowed back for the last round of Currie Cup matches, as well as the playoff rounds. Some of these players might therefore have only one game under their belts before undertaking the grand slam end of the year tour.

“The SA Rugby Union confirms that all the contracted Springboks will undertake a conditioning programme for the next four weeks and will be withdrawn from their Absa Currie Cup squads until October 6,” a union statement said.

This means the Blue Bulls will not be able to use Bakkies Botha, who has played a total of five games this season, because he is under contract, but they will be able to play Gurthro Steenkamp, who started almost every single game and is in need of a rest.

The Bulls had confirmed they would use Botha this weekend but are now being forced to withdraw him, while Wynand Olivier also has to sit out.

The Cheetahs, who signed CJ Van der Linde only for the Currie Cup, will also not be able to play him, nor can the Sharks play JP Pietersen, who has just returned from injury.

The decision, which is understood to have been made after there were complaints in the conference call from the Cheetahs and Sharks about the Bulls getting their Bok players back, does not serve the best interests of South African rugby at all.

A gentlemen’s agreement between coach Peter de Villiers and the provinces allowed players like Botha, Van der Linde and Pietersen to get game time. Now it seems even players such as Heinrich Brussow and Adi Jacobs will have to wait until after October 6 to be able to take the field. – Sapa

Don't know if Jacobs was even in contention for a Bok jersey but a big shame for Brussow, not sure if I understand the whole reasoning mate?

Loved Jaco Engels try over the weekend by the way, great pace for a 120kg boppa. Enjoyable match

Damn shame Engels is such a crap scrummager. He does everything else really well.

This makes it quite evident that Piet Div will take the senior boks on the EOYT as he can reason that they are rested. He is too much of a pussy to attempt a tour without them because frankly he would not know what to do.

Paarl I just saw the WP Lions game from last weekend.

Tell you what. You would struggle to win the Currie Cup with a 10 who is slower than your props. Looks like Rassie thinks so too with Cronje starting this week. Who will kick for the goats?

The whole speed of the backline slows down. A couple of times Hoffman stood at ten in broken play and suddenly the backline was dynamic again.

How good was Elton Jantjies? I like the cut of his jib. More so than Lambie.

I didn't want to say it and jinx the guy but heck he is an exciting talent. The Kiwi coaches seem to allow him to express himself.

Any idea who the Lions would add as T5 players for the Super 15? They look a bit light.

Sound like John Smit is on his way to the Lions. Well I hope so, it will help both him and Bismarck to play week in week out. Johns parents live in Egoli.

PB, do you think thats the shot in the arm Smit's career needed heading into the RWC? Leading a struggling side might help him find the boost of energy he needs I think.

Cheetahs win over the Brutes the only surprise of the weekend. The Lions look like on the up and their biggest test since their winning streak against the Brutes this weekend. WP slam the wooden spoon, Mielie Boere and the Sharks on the win again.

The CC now heading into gear five and all important for teams to start hitting form from just about now.

Six horse race for Currie Cup

Johannesburg - The Absa Currie Cup race remains wide open and any of six sides can still win the title. And, what's more, with the exception of sixth-placed Griquas, the play-offs are very much in their own hands.

The Free State Cheetahs, with a relatively easy run-in in their last four matches, now have an excellent chance of securing a home semi-final after their 20-14 win over the Blue Bulls in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Griquas, struggling with injuries and without the finances and, therefore, the depth of the bigger unions, are hanging in by the skin of their teeth after their 40-29 loss to the Lions at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday, while their victors on Saturday probably have the toughest task of the top five to make the play-offs.

The Sharks are currently eight points ahead of second-placed Western Province, who got back on the winning trail on Saturday with a 59-17 thumping of the Platinum Leopards. The road ahead is, however, not an easy one and they have the little matter of overcoming the Free State Cheetahs in Durban this coming weekend and then the Lions in Johannesburg to ensure the top log position and a possible home final.

On the face of Friday night's last 60 minutes against the Pumas in Witbank, in which time the Sharks scored only three points in their 30-14 win, their next two matches should not be regarded as certain wins.

The Lions were rather average for most of their match against Griquas.

"We were sloppy," conceded coach John Mitchell afterwards. He was happy with the scrum, but critical of the lack of patience and the errors made on attack - mostly brought about by poor decision-making and some average handling.

But, as he said, "we won and we didn't play well." And that is perhaps the measure of a team which has now won five on the trot and have become serious contenders for a play-off berth.

The Lions started running without plan or structure from the word go, and the errors kept Griquas - who also scored four tries - in the early hunt.

More structure and vision than shown by the Lions in this match is necessary for the Currie Cup run-in.

The Lions square up to a hurt Blue Bulls side in Pretoria this weekend in a match which could have a major bearing on both sides' play-off aspirations.

The Lions then play the Sharks at home before travelling to Bloemfontein for the clash against the Free State Cheetahs and end off against the Pumas in Johannesburg.

On Saturday, the Blue Bulls again played for only part of their match against the Free State Cheetahs which produced some of the best that Currie Cup rugby has to offer.

It was tough, uncompromisingly hard and the defence on both sides was outstanding.

The highlight was undoubtedly the second-half Cheetahs try by Hendro Scholtz which came following 32 phases of patience and support and after outstanding Blue Bulls defence which simply had to wilt.

The match ended with the Blue Bulls, in control for the last 15 minutes or so, on attack, but there can be little doubt that the better side had won this battle. It was Free State's second win over the Blue Bulls in this season's competition.

Western Province's win over the Platinum Leopards came on the back of a golden period in the first half with the 26-10 half-time score putting paid to the notion that this would be a contest.

Nine tries indicate it was a better outing for WP after three consecutive defeats, but questions still remain despite the selection of Lionel Cronje at flyhalf and some Springbok stars in the backline.

This performance simply wasn't good enough to beat the top guns.
