Brothers always have a gold coin"donation point at the entry gate. They don't seem to bother too much if you don't have one but most people play the game.

Backs must be smarter by the very fact they have made a conscious decision not to stick their heads up other blokes bums.Seems quite a sensible move to me.
Hey Whispers, - You must have been a back - Poor buggers - most of the backs need to be wearing sunscreen and big straw hats - should only be "paid" on involvements

Now do I look like I used to be a back full time - tried it a couple of times but couldn't get the hair to stay straight - anyway - far more fun at 1 or 3 - or 13 & 15 as it was back then.

Yes, none of the clubs charge entry. Although I have been to Crosby Rd and been hit up for something. It must have ben a final or some special game

I think the Breakers do charge, or maybe its just for the cars - the only way I get in is I have an old Foundation members thingy

Sunnybank tried charging a few years ago by erecting temporary fencing around the field, but it was unpopular and looked stupid so they ditched it.

Breakers do not charge although they share the Surfers paradise club and last year Surfers charged a couple of times - don't believe that has happened this year.
Bloody shame with free admission to prem games across brisbane Goldie and sunny Coasts that there is not thousands of people watching what is essentially pretty good rugby (FOR FREE). Maybe "they" should market that aspect !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big final round today. Think I will venture down to Crosby Park to watch Brothers take on a resurgent GPS, but Easts and Norths at Bottomley should also be a cracker.

Brothers well and truly dusted themselves off after last weeks shock loss to Norths and put the cleaners through a GPS side that needed to win to have a chance of making the four. 54-5 was I think the final score, with lightweight winger Donelly outstanding, scoring a couple of beaut solo tries and having a hand in a couple more. Been said before but if this guy was bigger.... Damon Murphy was elusive from the back, and skipper Mckibben strong at 9. Good forward battle but points to Crofty, Hardy and co. It will be a tough major semi against Souths next week, who got the lollies in a high scoring game against Wests, but the latter won't have Q Cooper, who will be on Wallaby duty.

Well done to Chris Roche. For the second week in a row his Norths side has defeated a top four team, this time Easts, 22-20. Easts still managed to finish top four thanks to the GPS loss and play the Gold Coast in sudden death next week.

Went out to the Easts v Norths game yesterday, not a bad crowd! (what's a good one?) They filled the stand, and a few stragglers around the fence, 500????. Easts had plenty of ball, more than enough to win the game but Norths to their credit never gave up and their defense was great, especially the forwards. Easts goal kicker should have sealed the win with a kick in front with less than 5 to go but it shaved the right post! Andrew Walker seems to have so much time on his hands. There were a lot of mistakes, passes going to wrong person, dropped ball ect, but from those mistakes came opportunities, and Norths took advantage of them. Best for Norths were their PNG #10 and their big #20 ruled the lineout and scored a great runaway try, the big fella looked like he was going up and down on the spot for a while but made it finally! Great way for Norths to finish the year!

1) Another good report about Gavin Warren. I would love to see this guy get a go at a higher level. Perhaps the 5th team will pick him up.

Is that the same Gavin Warren that got badly injured for Queensland 2-3 years ago ? IIRC Queensland lost a prop before the game, and an U19 rep prop who'd played the curtain raiser came off the bench and was promptly folded in half in his first scrum. If so, good to hear he's recovered and made progress since then.

Naza yes and no. He is the U19 prop called in to the reds at the last minute. He then came on and at the first scrum collapsed and he was replaced with uncontested scrums the result.

The story around the traps though is that Eddie Jones told him to take the dive.

well Goondiwindi won the Darling Downs Rugby comp yesterday beating Toowoomba Bearss, there was a decent crowd of 3'000 ish at th game, nice little revenue raiser considering it was $10 entry.

Big weekend of rugby in Brisbane. Panicked a bit when I woke up to rain but the weather looks to have cleared.

First the big one tonight, and lets hope the Wallabies can give it to the Boks. Looking forward to going out to Suncorp tonight, and if the Boks put on another first half clinic like last weekend, well...

Then Ballymore on Sunday for the Club semi's. Easts v. Gold Coast in the elimination game. Might go Easts in a tight one, with Andrew Walker to be the difference. Souths v Brothers will be a cracker. No Q Cooper for Souths but they still have the Faainga brothers and Van Humphries and these guys go very well at club level. Brothers are probably favourites and have a great all round team with old heads like Croft and Hardman leading them around, and McKibben at half.

Cant wait for the footy feast to begin...

Well at least the commentators can say the the ball will be wet and slippery from the rain earlier in the day.

Gold Coast didn't turn up today, the ball didn't seem to bounce their way, and they got pumped 41-10 by Easts. Rex Tapuai showed glimpses of why he is a good player, and the No 7 for the Coast never stopped trying. Easts strengths are a dogged forward pack and the wise old head of Andrew Walker. They will need every bit of that when they play the loser of the major semi. I left at halftime with the score at 14- 10 to Souths and the game was a visible improvement on the first final.

Biggest thing to report was the appearance on the wing for Souths of Kimami Situata, the Nudgee schoolboy. He looked like he belonged as well, with a couple of good strong runs.

did you notice David Feao, 18yr old Souths prop?

The South frontrow is extremley young, David Feao is 18 and both Sam Denny and Saia Fainga'a are only 21.

Does anyone know what happened to AJ Gilbert? I remember hearing rumours that he was moving on, possibly back home to play league, he was a essential part of the Souths team earlier this year but no longer there.

Saw something in the Telegraph today about former 1st grade NRL players now playing CRL footy, and "AJ Gilbert" was listed as playing for Bellingen....

Google tells us.

http://www.coffscoastadvocate.com.au/story/2009/08/24/pies-have-it-all-their-way/

THE crowd at Woolgoolga Sportsground was left stunned yesterday by the ridiculous ease that Bellingen swept aside the Seahorses.

The Magpies scored at nearly a point a minute in the first half before easing up to record a 62-0 victory.

...

AJ Gilbert was at his menacing best with several offloads and five-eighth Danny Russell steered his team around the park to full effect.
