    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Perhaps I'm just being dense, but I'm still at a complete loss as to the hype around Mack Mason. He must've gone to a very good school to have been identified so early as a star on the basis of what appear to be such modest talents. It concerns me that the Brumbies have been allowed to...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Simone spent the first half of this season taking turns with Tom Wright at being painfully fucking dreadful at 12. To his credit, he finished the season strongly, and has carried some very good form into the NRC, but let's not kid ourselves that the latter is an indicator of test playing...

NRC Rd5: Canberra Vikings v Fijian Drua, Sat 28 September 12pm

In fairness to Lonergan, the three shots he missed were all sideline conversions. Everything reasonably kickable was kicked.

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

Here's one I posted in the 'Ideas for the NRC' thread: At present, if a team is attacking and has a penalty advantage, there could be a perverse incentive (particularly if it's in the dying minutes and they're behind by six or seven) not to score in the corner, but rather to accept the penalty...

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

Smart of the IRB to shift their schedule around to fit this in between the two NRC games. Otherwise who'd bother?

RWC Pool D: Wallabies v Fiji, Sat 21st September, 2.45pm AEST, Sapporo Dome

Kepu ahead of Tupou seems eminently reasonable; the Wallabies should be trying to play a tight, set-piece oriented game and Kepu is a much better scrummager. Uelese ahead of Fainga'a is the real head-scratcher, unless the latter is being kept in his wrapper for bigger games.

NRC Rnd 4 - Western Force v Canberra Vikings - UWA Sports Park - 21 Sep - 3 PM (WST)

Not that I'd consider myself a pundit, but I've been saying this since the Vikings/Rays game last year. We're now past the point of Lonergan being an exciting, up-and-coming player with the right ingredients to some day unseat Powell; his delivery is better, his kicking is better, he has an...

NRC Rnd 4 - Western Force v Canberra Vikings - UWA Sports Park - 21 Sep - 3 PM (WST)

That must be the fourth time I've seen you post this link, Mrs Lolesio. You must be very proud of him (and rightly so) :D

NRC Rnd 4 - Western Force v Canberra Vikings - UWA Sports Park - 21 Sep - 3 PM (WST)

Morseu is an out-and-out winger; he's just built like a scrum-half.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

When he was at the Brumbies, White notoriously hated being given goal-kicking responsibilities; he filled the role back in 2014 and couldn't wait to hand the tee back to Lealiifano (who was recovering from ankle surgery at the time). I don't know if his northern exposure has changed his...

    Canberra Vikings 2019

As much as I like Powell, I think he's on borrowed time as the Brumbies' 9 anyway; Lonergan is a star in the making.

    Rugby 7s general chat

I'd be chasing Samu, McDermott, Wright, and Wright (not a typo). Considering the Brumbies are sure to be donating Cusack to the cause, they might be reluctant to give up another back rower though (let alone two - with the suggestion of Valetini).

    Canberra Vikings 2019

Seems the obvious choice; it worked for Maurice Longbottom.

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

While I agree that Ikitau has to come back, there really is just too much talent in this team, because I don't know how you could drop Hansen after that performance. I thought he was a stand-out. He played a major role in all those attacking raids and tries down the left wing and kept winning...

    Waratahs 2020

I really like what I've seen of Harrison. Good skills, good instincts, and a calm and steadiness that belie his years. He also has that quality that Giteau and O'Connor had as young lads- the ability to play bigger than he is; and I think a lot of it is balance and core strength. I'm far from...

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

While a lot of the discussion about the next Brumbies 10 has focussed on Kuenzle and Pasitoa, I've long thought that Lolesio is likely to have the inside running. How nice that we have the NRC to give both him and Kuenzle a good run. That front row looks very green, but then it did a few...

Completely agree, I've wanted that changed for years.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Cheika has missed an opportunity to blood an express winger in the Rugby Championship. With Petaia only ever a long shot, and Banks dropped, we're now an injury to Koroibete away from having no pace at all in the back three. Pulu would've been a bold choice but it's too late now. If Petaia is...

    Ideas for NRC

Here's one I've been stewing over for a while: At present, if a team is attacking and has a penalty advantage, there could be a perverse incentive (particularly if it's in the dying minutes and they're behind by six or seven) not to score in the corner, but rather to accept the penalty for a...

    Canberra Vikings 2019

I do sincerely hope to see George Morseu get a run (although there's obviously a lot of talent ahead of him). For those unfamiliar with the man, he's an indigenous former league player from NQ. He looks too small for rugby, but is cartoonishly fast, I cannot stress how ridiculous his pace is...
