Super Rugby AU Team of the Week

This is the strongest testament yet to Dan McKellar's abilities as a coach. Top of the table, only dropped one game, and yet only a single player in the entire 23 (and justifiably so). Also an endorsement of my existing view of Brad Thorn; excellent at training players, dreadful at coaching a...

Super Rugby AU Round 9 - Brumbies, v. Force, Friday 28 August 7:05pm AEST (5:05pm AWST)

Yeah the Force would be happy with that win.

Super Rugby AU Round 9 - Brumbies, v. Force, Friday 28 August 7:05pm AEST (5:05pm AWST)

I sincerely hope this isn't what ends up happening to Australian rugby.

Super Rugby AU Round 9 - Brumbies, v. Force, Friday 28 August 7:05pm AEST (5:05pm AWST)

I wish he were a Canberra local, but he's a Queenslander. He did do some hard yards in Canberra clubs and the academy though, so I'd love to consider him a local product.

    Wallabies 2020

I wouldn't start Sio for the Brumbies on form, let alone the Wallabies. Other than that it's actually surprising how many of the incumbents seem to have justified being selected again (although I wouldn't pick Hodge in a pink fit).

Super Rugby AU Round 8 - Brumbies vs Waratahs @ Canberra Stadium - Saturday 22 August @ 7.15pm

Maybe so, but "I havent seen anything that suggests White can snipe or defend like Tate" reads like a statement on the player's capabilities, rather than his form.

Super Rugby AU Round 8 - Brumbies vs Waratahs @ Canberra Stadium - Saturday 22 August @ 7.15pm

If the roles had been reversed, I'd have been pissed off. Not because I think that *should* be a penalty, but because I've seen variations on that theme result in penalties and cards for years now. The way the directive is consistently applied is that - if you jump higher and get your hands on...

Super Rugby AU Round 8 - Brumbies vs Waratahs @ Canberra Stadium - Saturday 22 August @ 7.15pm

In fairness to White, he did snipe his way to a victory over the All Blacks. I agree, however, that Tate should be first choice 9 for the Wallabies.

Super Rugby AU Team of the Week

If I might indulge in selecting one slightly left field Brumbies player it would be Cadeyrn Neville. I don't think his impact on the performance of the entire pack can be overstated, particularly in the set piece. The Brumbies went from being bossed in the scrum and consistently ballsing up...

Super Rugby AU Team of the Week

If that performance didn't lock McDermott in for the #9 gold jersey in game one this year, there is no justice in this world. An absolute clinic.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

Only since he was shifted wide at the Vikings in the NRC.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

It probably just felt like that because of the overpowering might of my argument. On Hansen, he's a 10 who has had to play a few games in the outside backs off the bench because of a logjam of options ahead of him. He should be given more than 30 mins off the bench in a team that's being...

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

Yeah look I'm sure that's true. As a fan though, I'll honestly be quietly miffed if the Brumbies win this, having not managed a proper Super Rugby title since 2004 and with the Vikings losing three NRC finals! Given the silly rule variations, I see this comp as the sort of T20 cricket of rugby, and all...

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

Ok, a title of a similar level of importance to the ARC.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

It's an experimental competition, with a bunch of terrible new rules and no real title at stake, so what better opportunity to advocate for all the exciting young players I've been wanting to see on the pitch for the past year?

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

I'd like to see this line-up against the Waratahs: 9. Lonergan 10. Hansen 11. Wright 12. Simone 13. Ikitau 14. Kata 15. Muirhead 21. Powell 22. Kuenzle 23. I'm resisting the urge to put George Morseu.... Banks I guess?

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

Hansen has to start at 10. As I was the only poster advocating for Lolesio ahead of Kuenzle before the start of this season, I trust my opinion will be recognised as the authority it clearly is. Time to bench Kuridrani as well. There's a wealth of choice at 13 with Ikitau, Wright and Muirhead...

Super Rugby AU Round 6 - Waratahs vs Reds @ SCG, Saturday 8 August 2020

Is it fair to say that Brad Thorn has shown a remarkable ability to coach players, but has never demonstrated the capability to coach a team?

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

The Brumbies are just getting murdered without a flyhalf. Hansen should get a start next round.

Super Rugby AU Round 5 Brumbies v Reds Saturday 7.15 GIO Stadium

This game has done nothing to disabuse me of the notion that Mack Hansen should have been the first pick when Lolesio went down. At this point though I think they have to persist with Kuenzle for at least another match. Maybe start giving Hansen a few more minutes though.
