Lolesio deserves first crack at flyhalf. I hope they don't panic, and give him at least four games to start with. I predict that Mack Hansen will get a run either due to injury or rotation, and make himself undroppable.

Imagine losing your starting locks, both of whom are wallabies, after being knocked out in the semi finals. That hasn't happened to the Brumbies since 2003. Can anyone remind me how they fared the following year?

I was distinctly unimpressed that Folau was given such a lucrative, long term contract, considering his continued refusal to learn to kick or pass, and his existing off-field issues. I am of the view that the ARU should've offered him considerably less, but let's not kid ourselves; if Folau was...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Plug the Foxtel into your TV via HDMI, and run the audio out from your TV to the amp. That way whatever's playing on the TV is playing on the amp, all for the cost of a 3.5mm to 2RCA cable from Jaycar ($12). Ridiculously easy and it works nicely for my Denon amp and Paradigm Monitors.

Ollie Hoskins at LHP? He seems to have been doing really well at London Irish.

I would argue that it's a lot more sophisticated than Game of Thrones. It's the Cold War in space, with honest depictions of the kind of future our current society is capable of creating; grossly unequal, unjust, and still built around exploitation by the obscenely wealthy, under the veil of...

The bankers did such a great job of running rugby, we should definitely hand control of it to a slightly different shade of rapacious capitalist egomaniac. What could possibly go wrong?

    Wallaby Coach Conga Line

If Cheika had 233 million dollars to spend on Australian rugby, Michael Hooper would currently be shopping for his third yacht.

I think that - given the ARU board's obvious lack of nous - selecting a coach on potential is a gamble they shouldn't be trusted with. We need a coach with international experience and a proven track record; so they should be pursuing Jamie Joseph and Vern Cotter above all others.

If this year's NRC showed us anything about the ACT players, it's that Lonergan is still a huge step down from McInerney. Hopefully Fainga'a and McInerney stay fit in 2020, and Lonergan gets another year of development in the NRC. I have a sneaking suspicion Pollard's future is in the back row.

    Expanded Rugby Championship

What about making the Bledisloe like the Ranfurly Shield; whereby you have to win on foreign ground to take it home? I mean, obviously it means we'll literally never win it again, but that's true with the two game schedule anyway, and at least it would get the Kiwis to agree to the...

    Michael Cheika

The coach in that recording was also remonstrating with his players for their inability to kick, which I think it's fair to say is not really something that was ever on Cheika's radar.

Simone/Wright at 12/13 seems like an almost carbon copy of the Nonu/Smith axis (although at a much lower level of course). A player of Wright's skillset at 13 also allows somebody like Kuridrani or Ikitau to fill in at 12 if the opportunity arises. With damaging runners like Pulu, Banks, and...

Indeed. Somebody else took the risk to find out if he was equipped to make the step up, and it turns out he was.

    Wallaby Coach Conga Line

He took the perennially hopeless Scots to one terrible refereeing blunder away from a World Cup semi final, and they did it playing some pretty great rugby against more fancied opponents. Actual international coaching experience seems like it might be a handy attribute for a national coach.

It's 100% Vern Cotter. Why are we not talking about Vern Cotter??

I think he probably will too; I just think it'll take another two years or so, and he's still a very long way behind McInerney.
