Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

He does but Kenny is mostly right. The talent drain has been eye watering and the replacements null. That’s not on Penny’s head, he can only work with what he has. Maybe another coach might be able to do better but we don’t really know that. We saw big improvement last season, the cattle this...

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

I think it needs to be pointed out that I wrote this about half way through the first half and you replied well into the second half. At the time of writing it was correct. The Waratahs were having a crack and the Brumbies were dull when they had the ball.

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

I don’t think they will, they are professionals and they’ve done some good things tonight, just couldn’t finish off and ended up 50m back the other way. It’s disheartening at the time but on review they will pull out the positives.

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

Yes but like a young racehorse we just want to see improvement throughout the season. Like the Reds pain a couple of seasons ago.

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

Yeah. And that scrum penalty - he said use it to White and he fucks it up but he gives them the penalty anyway.

    Which one?
  7. KOB1987

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

I’m with you. Hooper would have smashed White there, Tizzano made a lame grab attempt
  8. KOB1987

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

That kick receive? That was just really bad luck
  9. KOB1987

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

Exactly. I know the Brumbies know they can win the comp with that thing but they should at least try something else sometimes. Especially against the B Tahs. The Tahs look far more enterprising when they have the ball, problem is they keep dropping it.

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

That's where I was coming from with my assessment. If you're just talking scrum time then yes Slipper is superior, and admittedly that's the number one criteria when you're selecting your props. But once they're on the paddock it's only part of the package.

Super Rugby AU 2021 Team of the Week

I’ve caught up on the action now so will put in a late entry. Might be an idea to set a deadline Slim? 1. Slipper (BRU) 2. Mafi (RED) 3. Ala'alatoa (BRU) 4. Blyth (RED) 5. Neville (BRU) 6. Valetini (BRU) 7. McReight (RED) 8. Samu (BRU) 9. Gordon (WAR) 10. Lolesio (BRU) 11. Daugunu (RED) 12...

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

That’s kinda where I was coming from. Similarly it will be hard for Harrison to look better than Noah unless the Brumbies backs put in a mare, or the Tahs backs pull out a blinder. Neither of which are impossible mind you. Last season it was one all from the two times they played each other...

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

I was judging him more off how he went v the All Blacks scrum than last weeks shambles. Anyway, we will see. We can’t line them up against each other, only against the scrum as a whole, so Bell will be pushing shit up hill all season.
  14. KOB1987

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

I am referring to this level of course. I think Bell is on the up whereas Slipper has peaked, still a very good player, not disputing that. Not many 20 year olds have been a capped Wallaby prop, but yes I take your point, the jury is out. Plenty of evidence last year that Horton > Mcinerney...

Super AU R2 - Reds v Rebels Suncorp Stadium 26/2

Rebels following the Brumbies lead and having two 9s on the bench
  16. KOB1987

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

This is a bit subjective but I’d say: Bell = Slipper Horton > Mcinerney Harrison = Lolesio Ramm > Hansen Maddocks = Banks The other 7 starting positions, and most importantly the bench, it’s clearly advantage Brumbies

Super Rugby AU 2021 Team of the Week

I'll sit out this week's votes as I haven't seen the games properly yet. FWIW, no problems with non-eligible players being included in the TOTW, but if there is a cumulative team like we did last year maybe exclude them from that, as the purpose is to come up with a form Wallabies side?

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

I’m not surprised a Tahs supporter hasn’t rushed in to start this thread, but thought a Brumbies one would have started it last Saturday! Anyway, here it is.
  19. KOB1987

Rd 1 SRA 2021 Queensland Reds v NSFW Waratahs

I think it will be a close game with the Tahs possibly even with their noses in front, up until the point that the Tahs B front row gets pitched against the Reds A one. The wheels will likely fall off right there. secretly I have faith though
