    Where to for Super Rugby?

Super Rugby / TT, at least in the short-medium term, needs to be an aspirational thing for players sourced from a pro domestic comp. We need more than 5 professional teams for the code to survive and grow here.

RC - Wallabies vs Springboks, Gold Coast Sunday 12 September 8:05 PM

I know you’re being sarcastic but it would be interesting to know the reasons - it sounds like he was asked into the squad reasonably early, at least before the border closed anyway. Might have been contractual, or he might have still been having 2019 RWC nightmares. Unpatriotic he is not though.

How would you like to see NRC/ARC type comp?

I don’t know enough about Qld to comment on that situation, but for NSW longer term I’d like to see the Tahs morph into the Sydney Waratahs, a Western Sydney side, and a third side which has an emphasis on players with country roots but with a home base, probably somewhere like Newcastle, or...

The article also says that Foley rejected an SOS call prior to QC (Quade Cooper) being recalled. Just to keep the old debate going!

    Seems you’re on the money!

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Obviously these comps were all regionally based, Australia is obviously way too big for a national comp, especially when it’s amateur. But it culminated in a representative season, and the top players would play for their clubs - in fact it wasn’t unheard of for players to turn out for the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No-one has answered so I will - that would be because prior to Super Rugby the sport was amateur. We had a plethora of domestic comps going on around the country at various levels and the sport was thriving on the back of our 1991 RWC win. The first 10 years of the pro era Australia actually...

Doran was inferring in his article which was before your mail that JOC (James O'Connor) was to be named on the bench. Sounds like Banks is getting punted for Hodge and Paisami for Ikitau the only other possible change, although Len's left boot could save him. So if you're right then yeah, chuck Quade on the bench.

    World 12s

Interesting. My initial reaction is that 10s was a flop and this will be too. I’ll sit on the fence for a bit.

Bledisloe III at Perth, 5/09/21 - 4pm AEST

I’m not sure you blokes read my post properly. I wasn’t saying that Harrison should be the Wallabies 10, only that he is a much more creative playmaker than LoLo, with the caveat that he’s even less ready for test rugby than Lolesio. Nor was I dissing on Lolesio, like others have suggested he...

Yes. Well, you know what they say about death and taxes, but the next level after that anyway.

I largely agree with you and I posted something similar before the game. However the release of Uelese, to the benefit of FF (Folau Fainga'a) and Lonergan was somewhat odd. And to a lesser extent the selection of Pete Samu over Wilson and Naisarani - just to clarify, I don’t mind Samu being picked, but it was...

    Wallabies 2021

Holmes likely obviously but Robertson has a fair bit of THP experience right? Even at test level?

    Wallabies 2021

Agree in principle but JOC (James O'Connor) hasn’t played in 3 months and Quade is untested at this level in a LONG time. Start Hodge with one of those blokes on the bench.

Harrison shits on Lolesio when it comes to playmaking. He’s even less ready when it comes to test rugby though, or we are to assume that at least.

RC - Wallabies vs Springboks, Gold Coast Sunday 12 September 8:05 PM

Thats all true. But assuming you guys don’t lose to Argentina again, if we win we can actually climb to 4th.

    Wallabies 2021

Yes. Argentina weren't in the RC, but we were playing NZ and SAF twice, an inbound tour and then the EOYT. 2002 for example we played 10 tests but a lot of the players came through the era of only playing 6 or 7 tests a year. Plus we had 3 players in the 2003 RWC side that were bought from league.
