    Wallabies 2023

For a trip to South Africa, yes. It's only a squad for the first 2 games and if there is an injury Neville will no doubt get the call up. I'd say Neville is in a similar basket to Foley in that he's a known quantity who isn't first choice and Eddie wants to have a look at someone else who...

Like it or not Hodge is a back up 12. We can make that inference based on him not being named as a utility. However I would also suspect that 12. Ikitau 13. Perese is also on the Plan B list.

Ask me after the Argentina game. Richie Arnold is at this point in time an uncapped 32 year old. It’s also possible there won’t be any need to drop anyone, attrition may well come into play. The point I was making was that it makes sense to leave Foley out at this stage.

Foley is a known quantity and I suspect will still get a journeyman berth to France. It looks like Eddie wants to see more of both Gordon and Donaldson to work out which one to take.

Yep a bloke who didn't watch the game and another bloke who concurs with an internet piece by renowned selector James Horwill. Anyways, I am going to rule 10 myself on this issue now. If Eddie picks Tom Hooper there I hope he kills it. Particularly being a Central West NSW product.

    Wallabies 2023

Like I said I didn't watch the game and it was a bit of a dig at the stats.. The individual stats on Union Live are obviously wrong but now that I see the team stats there I concur with the tally of 14 lineout wins. I'm still not seeing Hooper picked as an openside at test level, it may work...

    Wallabies 2023

I didn't see the game but it doesn't appear that anyone was. From the stats I can find Neville got a steal and that was the only Brumbies lineout win of the night. Off topic I know but I was curious to see that if Hooper wasn't used in the lineout then who was.

    Wallabies 2023

OK I stand corrected - however I assume that the rationale was to get a bit of height in the lineout and not muck around with Valetini and Samu in their regular positions. Did he switch with Samu on defensive scrums? I'll still maintain you wouldn't do it at test level, the opposition would...

When did he play at open side? I'm assuming it was an injury ravaged circumstance. Playing him there for the Wallabies will end about as well as playing Ben McCalman there in '11.

    Wallabies 2023

Yeah PSdT is not an open side, he wears number 7 because they do it the other way around there. He is an out and out blind side. I will go out on a limb and say that Tom Hooper is zero chance to be selected as an open side flanker. If they are to go back to the 80's you'll have a big mobile...

    Wallabies 2023

Yeah Im a bit miffed by the Richie hype TBH. I know he's Rory's identical twin, but he's not his clone and I doubt he will be handed an international debut at altitude. That would be a massive stitch up. Maybe off the bench at Parra would work better if Eddie wants a look.

In a RWC year is it a better alternative than Foketi?
  13. KOB1987

    Wallabies 2023

I wouldn't see an issue with it in the broad scheme of things but with 4 games until the RWC starts it begs the question as to what you'd do with Kerevi and/or Ikitau. I'm not seeing either of those blokes being left out, or even moved. Next year maybe, barring an injury of course.

I feel like Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) could be our modern day Campo, only with aerial skills as well. Been saying that for a while. And that Will Harris will be our modern day Tim Gavin, in that he will peak in his late 20s / early 30s. Wilson could be like that as well.

    NSW AAGPS 2023

I don't disagree with this with regards to High and Grammar but in fairness to TAS their Rugby program is fine, their issue is they just don't have the numbers (not players, students generally) anymore. If they want a level playing field they should realistically be playing in ISA with...

Michael Hooper will be in any 33 man Wallabies squad this year. Nothing surer.
