Rugby players lost to other sports

Not forgotten but I don’t think he counts as he didn’t really make a conscious choice to defect to another sport, it was more out of necessity. If he didn’t post weird shit on instagram he would probably still be fullback for the Wallabies.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

There actually hasn't been too much wrong with our scrum for several years, except when we are poleaxed with injuries. Maul defence, well that's a separate issue.

    Waratahs 2025

It's only an academy contract. The news is that Freddy's son is potentially choosing rugby over the NRL, not that it's a superstar multi-million dollar signing. He was in NSW Schoolboys, I don't think it's outrageous to put him in the academy, regardless of surname, they should sign as many of...

    Waratahs 2025

I wondered the same but he and thegrounskeeper joined at the same time and seem to use this platform to have conversations with each other.

    Waratahs 2025

I could be wrong but I don't think anything has actually been confirmed. He asked for the early release (something to do with his American wife I believe), but it was only so he could have their blessings to explore the market. He's still a Tah at this stage.

    Wallabies 2024

I agree in principle with most of this but who determined that Len Ikitau is world class? Very good player and certainly one of the few auto picks in our squad, but doesn't world class imply that if you were picking a world xv he would be in it, at 13? Or put another way, he'd make the best...

    Wallabies 2024

Which club does Zane play for? Just wondering if he was considered the 3rd THP then maybe it was a mutual decision to stay and play finals and let Tom go and hold tackle bags as emergency cover for both sides.

    Wallabies 2024

All I said was I won't be surprised if his red gets downgraded. If it does the rest is up to Schmidt. From memory Foketi was on leave and it was just to hold tackle bags anyway.

    Wallabies 2024

It will have to be Stewart won't it? JOC (James O'Connor) would be another option, otherwise they will have to do a backline rejig. That said, I won't be surprised if Foketi's red get's downgraded, I was watching it live and it was 'clumsy' (the word used by Doran) but in no way malicious, and being a club...

    Wallabies 2024

I've only just read the Doran article, it doesn't actually say much does it? I was under the impression that if he were to come back into the fold for the RC it would only be for the Argentina tour anyway, and not for the Bledisloe games. So in that context it makes more sense to continue...

    Wallabies 2024

Our problem stems from the historical governance whereby unless you are playing for a Super franchise you can’t play for the Wallabies, which means that every Aussie player who has moved overseas has already weighed up their priorities. It’s a rule we had to have because without it we risk our...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Here are my final comments on the matter. Firstly, find any reference to me calling the side that ran out against Georgia our B side. Not saying others didn’t, but you aren't talking to those others. There was some rotation from within our 32 man squad, that’s pretty commonplace for all...

    Wallabies 2024

And Foketi got red carded for a dump tackle playing for Manly in the semi yesterday.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Rassie knows how to exploit every loophole in the rule book, if it was a deliberate ploy and robbed them of a victory in the dying minutes where they couldn’t eek out a penalty try because their scrum had been eating ours all night then fair enough. But it wasn’t like that at all, it was an...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

It will be interesting to see if Kerevi comes back into consideration for the Argentina trip, the lack of impact in the midfield was one of the most obvious criticisms of the Boks matches.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

PSDT has been the best all round player in the world for the last 2 World Cup cycles. Re the uncontested scrums, there isn’t really much they can do about it - the options were to ignore the concussion protocols, bring Bell back on injured, or borrow one of your players. Beyond that the only...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

The modern international game entails a squad approach. 14 of the 23 players in their team last night won a World Cup final less than a year ago. They have crazy depth and rolled out some players in the first half who aren’t well known now but will be part of the main squad in 2027, supported...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Schmidt hasn‘t mastered the art of uncontested scrums yet. Donno should have been there instead of Blyth.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Can someone run me through the criteria for determining that was the Springboks B team, and ours being our strongest one?
