Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

I don’t believe that. I’m watching ‘Chasing Great’ with my boys and was reminded that in a quarter final in the 2015 RWC the All Blacks beat France 62-13. There is a way back, but we need to find it.....pronto

It’s funny because the stereotype is that the THP is a massive immovable brick wall whereas the LHP is meant to be taller, more athletic and technically proficient. Admittedly this is going back to an era 25 years or so ago, but I sat across the aisle on a plane once from Bill Young (LHP) and...

Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

Usually when you see a blow out scoreline like that it reflects a demolition job and a couple of late consolation tries. In this case it was the opposite, we looked the best we have all season in the first 30 minutes, and then it went totally pear shaped. You have to look at what changed, and...

I can. Daugunu was going great.

Yes and no. We are like England were in 2000. They made the call to load up on the young talent, got demolished early on and then won the World Cup 3 years later. With a Lions tour coming up next year though we need to scavenge the globe for our best experienced players and just pick them e.g...

Or we could just join in the Pacific Nations Cup action.

I was watching on delay so scrolling forward the stoppages. After the try at 70:43 to make the score 46-20 I went to scroll forward and had a malfunction and it went to the end. WTF? I don’t see any need to watch the last 9 minutes!

As 8pm says, speed is complex. I doubt they are putting them in a foot race over any distance. It would be more things like falling on a ball, getting back on feet, and getting to a marker at a certain distance, with some necessary rule adherences thrown in, etc

    Queensland Reds 2025

That’s gold. Does she really expect anyone to believe that? Especially like the cut and paste about the franchise’s respective financial situations from 6 months ago prior to the Brumbies getting on board with RA. (Edit: which has since been removed)

    Australian Rugby / RA

Just a random hypothetical - let’s say that the 2025 Lions tour and hosting the 2027 World Cup provide a massive boost to Australian rugby, player numbers blossom and we return to #1 in the world. Which of NZ or SA bail out of this arrangement first?

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Just as plans come together for Papua New Guinea to enter the NRL in 2027, the country has been booted from rugby union over governance issues. PNG Rugby Union has been suspended from all men’s, women’s and sevens competitions due to “noncompliance” following a series of issues regarding the...

Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

I think the scenario was a bit different too in that Joe wanted to get a look at Pietsch, not that he got much of a look at him, and he could risk having to use him in the centres v Wales or Georgia, also Daugunu or Kellaway could shift in if necessary. Although if he wants to get a look at...

Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

Pietsch is an interesting one because although he plays almost exclusively as winger he has experience in the centres and also the back row. Hence why mad Eddie had him as a 'utility' in his early squads.

Argentina v Australia TRC Round 4 Sunday 8 September 5am (AEST)

I'd say Toole either starts or he's in the stands - nothing against him but when do we ever put an out and out winger on the bench?
  17. KOB1987

    Wallabies 2024

OK so presumably that's the game he got injured, right? Otherwise he 'would have made the Wallabies'. I'm not knocking the bloke, I just don't remember him playing rugby, and don't follow league enough to comment on his overall ability. As an aside, that was a pretty handy 'A' side. Edit...

    Wallabies 2024

I don't even remember the bloke. Wikipedia I know, but this doesn't really read like 'would have made the Wallabies': 2010 - 2011: Queensland Reds [edit] Chambers switched to rugby union from 2010 after signing a 2-year deal with the Queensland Reds to play in the Super 14.[18] However...

    Wallabies 2024

This is why we need a professional third tier, the reason their players seem more athletic overall comes purely down to the fact that there are more of them who are professional players - their club players go home for a sauna or ice bath after the game, ours down a couple of pies and a six pack.

    Wallabies 2024

Yeah I’m skeptical about league being a higher standard as well. I think you could make a case that the best league players currently are better than the best rugby players (bearing in mind you can only really compare backs and some backrowers), but I don’t think you can say that across the...
