    Refereeing decisions

Good point mate, World Rugby will need to clarify that one for sure! The flipside of that is that (from a pure lawbook perspective) there are actually a lot more mauls in a game than are ever adjudicated as such. The laws are just different shades of grey!

    Shute Shield 2017

Uni got up 5 converted tries to 3 converted tries over 4 x 20min quarters. Uni too strong at the scrum, Rebels more accurate at the breakdown. Backlines fairly even although Uni were more experienced in this department.

    Shute Shield 2017

It was easily into the 50's or so but that doesn't include the two dogs. largely made up of travelling family from the Rebels with a spattering of locals from the Steamers. Rugby is a tough sell on the Border, the match was well supported by the club, the Steamers always put on a good show and...

    Shute Shield 2017

In this vein, it's worth a mention that the Sydney Uni v Rebels Under 20s fixture in the Riverina has been a welcome early season highlight for those of us in this area of the world. Great effort from both teams to get out of the big smoke, get in the bus and play some great rugby in Southern...

I hear that there are two confirmed changes in the local coaching scene. Both in Wagga.

Their back up is a strong candidate and has form at the rep level. He is a valuable member of the club. Just to be clear, that was a tongue in cheek comment. However, it happens in Canberra every day of the week and has done for at least 10 years. It mightn't be viewed well by the other...

I think there are a number of options available to the clubs and board here, hopefully all options are looked at to determine the best solution for what is really one of the trickiest parts of the competition to get right. Correct, I hear of some visa issues in the MIA, however they have a...

The SIRU Board have requested nominations for the 3rd Grade and Women's Competitions in 2017. I think a positive step has been the suggestion that clubs enter two teams in the Women's Sevens Competition to be played as a First and Second Grade Competition. This would be a good move to assist...

Nick's a decent fella, it's a demanding gig and he's been in the role for a while now. Timing not ideal but I'm confident Aggies have the structures there to overcome this. The key thing for Aggies is that they retain their core group of leaders which is always a battle at any Uni club.

James Curgenven to the Tumut Blues. That'll hurt City and SIRU, a shame to lose him to Loig. One of the nice guys of the local comp. All the best James. Just remember anything above the eyebrows is legal.

I also hear some words that there is potentially a three way Women's XV tournament in Wagga that day as well. NSW Country, Victoria and ACT. Would make for a great day of rugby!

Keep an eye on the SIRU website, I'd expect it'll be updated pretty soon. Round One is on the 8th April, GF Day is the 26th August. Three general byes this year. One for Easter, then two in a row, June Long Weekend for BPT in Monaro (venue TBA) and one for the Brumbies Provincial vs NSW...

Good points mate and I agree wholeheartedly. We are only as strong as our weakest link. In reference to the Women's team for CSU, the Reddies have been oneof the more successful teams in the competition since inception (other than the Diana's). The Reddies have developed such talents as...
