    Rebels 2020

Great signing from the Rebels today. I question if Ainsley has much of a future at the Rebels with Fa’amasuili clearly been preferred in the NRC, Smith’s signing etc. I can see him coming down south for anything less than a bench spot. Gibbon and Sa’aga will be the LH’s We desperately need...

    Rebels 2020

A couple of weeks ago someone mentioned some international forwards were due to sign, if that’s true (I haven’t heard a thing about it) we could do far worse than Himeno from Japan. What a player he is, can play every position in the back 5. Some of the Japanese props could be useful as well.

RWC Week 2 - thread for matches without a match thread*

He’s been around for a while. Signed for Northampton years ago, but absolutely no idea where he is now

    Reds 2020

I can 100% confirm this is the major factor in him moving overseas. There is no issue with Cheika, his only gripe in Aus was the value of the wallaby top up offered when compared to some other players, not talking the top tier contracts but the mid range ones. RA valued him on one of the lower...

NRC Rnd 4: Melbourne Rising v QLD Country

I actually think the Rising might take this one. What might be the best pack in the NRC this week on display, only issue is it’s also the worst backline.

    Rebels 2020

Listening to Brett McKay today on the latest GAGR podcast, he indicated that some of the Rebels guys may have been contracted to the club with clauses saying they don’t have to play NRC. Interesting if so, not sure if I like it. I am fully behind players going and playing NPC, CC or in Japan...

    NRC Rnd 3 - Western Force v Melbourne Rising - UWA Sports Park - Sep 15 - 3PM (WST)

Force just too good. They had a little bit more polish and class in the backs. Rising wingers didn’t handle the ball very well when it went in the air, forwards was very even battle.

    NRC Rnd 3 - Western Force v Melbourne Rising - UWA Sports Park - Sep 15 - 3PM (WST)

The issue we are trying to point out is that prior to this week 3 of those guys haven’t played a minute, then of the remaining 8 that have played 5 of them are props. You obviously can’t fit them on the field at once, so only a max of 5 contracted players have been on the field at any one time...

    Rebels 2020

Koroibete and what he’s doing next season is a great mystery. He hasn’t signed for any European team and there is zero speculation around his movements, I wouldn’t put it past him to be at the Rebels again, especially if he has a great WC the ARU will throw money at him. I think the backline...

    NRC Rnd 3 - Western Force v Melbourne Rising - UWA Sports Park - Sep 15 - 3PM (WST)

Cottrell is still around he was at the first NRC game supporting the guys on the sideline. Goddard is still around, he’s still training with the extended squad and living with Brad Wilkin but it’s a strange one with the new signings. I still have a suspicion he will pop up in the 7s camp...

    NRC Rnd 3 - Western Force v Melbourne Rising - UWA Sports Park - Sep 15 - 3PM (WST)

From this team Philip, Meakes, Goddard, Magnay, Cottrell and Hosea. This will also be the first appearance of Hardwick and Leota so at least that’s a positive. Throw Cottrell into that backrow with Meakes, Goddard and Magnay in the back line suddenly it’s a pretty good NRC team, with still...

    Rugby World Cup 2019

Australia has the largest Fijian population in the world outside of Fiji. Something like 10% of all Fijians live here. NZ has higher numbers with Samoans and Tongans.

Wallabies v Samoa, Sat 7th September, 7.30pm, Bankwest (Parra) Stadium

I’m a big believer that in the modern era a 6 needs to be a jack of all trades. Needs to be someone that can bend the line, provide link play, lineout option and get their head over the ball. All without been the primary source for the team in each area, more of a support option if the game...

Wallabies v Samoa, Sat 7th September, 7.30pm, Bankwest (Parra) Stadium

Wallabies started to lack respect for the opposition after 30mins or so, looked like they all thought it was going to be a 50pt win. Passes started to be pushed, patience was lost and they started to try and score off every play, and structures started to breakdown with the change in mentality...

    Rebels 2020

Evan Olmstead the Canadian lock might be worth a look. He’s been sensational in the mitre 10 for a few seasons now and is an Aussie that’s struggled to get opportunities here before he had to move overseas. From memory he was MOTM in last years final. Any overseas player given they haven’t been...

    Rebels 2020

Fa’amasuili is a bit of a Tongan Thor lite. If his scrummaging can come along he will rocket to the preferred TH at the Rebels. Ainsley is also still rather young, however seriously overrated. He needs to come along like Tom Robertson was finally starting to show before he got injured. The prop...

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

At ground level Pulu looked a class above everyone on the park. The young 9 (Lonergan I think) had great technique in almost everything he did, could be a classy player.
