NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

What I liked a couple of years ago was the Victorian Axemen match vs the Rising. I think that’d be a better way to go with rewarding players on the fringe and uniting the sectors. Standouts within that match could then be asked to integrate within the squad on a training basis.

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

Forgot about Goddard. Agreed completely with everything you said, what the last couple of seasons has shown is there is so many guys in the squad with potential but have game management and skill holes in their game, they need to be playing these matches. Also for a club that stated in the fans...

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

In fairness just about every player the Vikings put out is a contracted professional to the Brumbies. The Rising had 9 players in the starting side alone that are purely amateur. It’s not an excuse, because I believe the Vikings are doing it the right way. It’s more frustration with the...

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

Yeh he’s playing mitre 10. I’m happy with that as well, it’s extra money for players and still playing at a very high level. Everyone of the guys missing from the squad has played less than 14 games this year, a number of them had some of their appearances off the bench, so it can’t be a player...

NRC Rnd 1: Melbourne Rising v Canberra Vikings

Most of the guys were at the game as well. I’m a big believer of setting a culture of winning. I saw Cottrell, Erasmus, Leota, Hosea and Hardwick at the field. Hosea, Leota and Hardwick in particular are at stages in their career where they should be getting as much experience under their belt...

    Rebels 2020

2000% I get why a few blokes are playing in other comps, mainly for financial reasons. But the rest should be building some momentum and combinations for next season. It’s such a missed opportunity. It would also drive higher standards within the club and the comp. Opportunities always come to...

    Bledisloe II @ Eden Park

KB (Kurtley Beale) wasn’t the issue last night, he did okay with a well beaten pack. Hodge was one of the better performers. I think it highlighted LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) a little, but he’s young but the speed of the game got away from him, his mobility around the park is solid for a lock but below standard for a flanker...

    Rebels 2020

No Meakes frustrates me. He’s fit and training atm, yet not in the squad. Everyone needs as many games as possible to improve not only their standard but the competition as a whole. Roach has been given blessing to play mitre 10, which I’m more than okay with. He’s on next to nothing at the...

TRC Round 2: Australia vs Argentina @ Brisbane - Saturday 27 July 2019

I think we will play our best team for both ABs matches and against Samoa it’ll be squad players

TRC Round 2: Australia vs Argentina @ Brisbane - Saturday 27 July 2019

Against a rush defense a 13 will get scraps, his main role will be to attract attention than anything.

Ultimately I think JOC (James O'Connor) is fighting it out with Hodge for the bench utility spot with Beale to play 15.

When are fixtures out for NRC? Surely it must be going ahead, because World Rugby has approved for law trials during it.

Greg Holmes comes up every now and then on these threads. But do people realize he’s 36 and now around 4th choice TH at his club.

I have been shaking my head all week with some of the so called Fox Sports experts not selecting him in their wallabies squads. Sometimes I wonder if I watch the same game, or are they clouded that much with bias or am I the one with the bias?

Not sure which thread is appropriate for this, but an optimistic read from Rugby Pass on Super Rugby u23 squads. https://www.rugbypass.com/news/super-rugby-under-23-squads-which-franchises-future-is-the-brightest Reds look stacked, Rebels and Brums have some promising talent and the Tahs a little thin...
