    Shute Shield 2019

Are the Shute Shield clubs not on the new Rugby Xplorer app?

    NRC onwards and upwards

It depends what follows it. I would be happy to run a reverse of the super rugby teams (so Tahs play the Rebels in Melbourne) and also have the Force & Fijian Drua from GRR included playing the Super teams home & away. That would be about another 7 rounds + finals. This would allow the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

You mean you didn't really care about a Lions - Crusaders grand final played at 3:00 in the morning??? Can't believe it myself ;)

^ Too much common sense here to become reality unfortunately :(

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I can't see how the state team someone plays for is relevant - surely we are picking the best possible AUSTRALIAN team. Australian rugby is in a heap of shit mostly to this sort of state based parochialism (not just in relation to player selections) I think we can assume that the Wallaby...

R7: Waratahs vs Sunwolves - Friday 29 March @ Newcastle

Also the last time we played against an axed team didn't go so well either

    Proposed Nations Championship

Also if the funds are distributed down to the 3rd division like you said WCR, those unions would be swimming in it. We've seen recently what the Brazilian scrum can do, the smaller unions being able to be fully professional would really increase their ability to compete with Tier 1. I'm...

    Proposed Nations Championship

What that amount of money would do is impact on the European & Japanese clubs ability to out bid national unions for the best talent - sure the clubs would continue but would have to enter into joint contracts with the FFR & RFU much like the other big players do now. It really would maintain...

    Proposed Nations Championship

Overall I quite like the idea - The only down side I see is that other than at a world cup there is no cross over between the different divisions. Currently the likes of Samoa, Tonga, Georgia, USA and Canada all get 1-2 tests against the big boys in the November internationals.

    Proposed Nations Championship

No we would be playing them once in SA or Aus (depending on the year) and only possibly once more in the final - probably in Europe somewhere. TRC and this comp are the same matches.

I prefer to fermented barley malt with a hint of hops

    Proposed Nations Championship

I would imagine much less attractive for the broadcasters in USA, Japan & Italy

    Proposed Nations Championship

If it went on rankings it would be: 1. New Zealand 5. South Africa 6. Australia 9. Fiji 10. Argentina 11. Japan 2. Ireland 3. Wales 4. England 7. Scotland 8. France 12. Georgia

    Proposed Nations Championship

Yeah I see the Pacific and Georgia a bit like Tasmania and the AFL - it's the No. 1 game in town but not the economic value to worry about it. The difference is places like Spain, Germany and Brazil who had large populations and economies we would like to tap into. 12 years is a long time for...

    Proposed Nations Championship

I wouldn't mind so much if they said no relegation for the first 2-3 years to get it settled down and then have a play off every year so it's not automatic. Just once again rugby not embracing the possibility of growth :(

    Southern Inland Rugby 2019

Also great to see the number of current and ex SIRU playing in the Super W this weekend. Cessy Smith from Leeton has made the Reds starting backline with a couple of current Walaroos on the bench.

    Southern Inland Rugby 2019

My main question is where does the money come from to pay referees a retainer for the weekends they are not refereeing?
