    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well add the Drua and you have 6 teams. A workable two round domestic leg leading into a single round TT. You can't guarantee that Aus sides will win, what happens if Aussie teams just make up the numbers, its not about guaranteeing every kid a medal but tonight you get an Aussie winner, a full...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I get what your saying, but would it be worth it just restricting the Drua to the Australian conference. If there based out of Sydney you achieve a presence every week in Sydney which continues during the TT component. The issue I see is both the RA and NZRU are pretty stretched financially...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Fiji’s Super entry has the ingredients for a runaway success (smh.com.au) Good to see people like Tuirinui push for domestic legs of Super, two round domestic comp then a single round crossover will give you 15/16 games then finals, A champion in each country, 3 games each weekend, a domestic...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The nature of a competition means you will always have teams below the bar, whether its 5 or 10 teams you'll have a top 3 and bottom 3, and some in the middle. The question that needs answering is what has restricting the code here to 3/5 professional teams achieved for rugby in this country.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yes, but please remember it does not mean anything until you beat every international team in the world every weekend on a regular basis and then you can start celebrating.

Steven Hansen “Do we owe them(Australia) something? No. But because we are the nation we are, and we care about the game more than just ourselves, we bend and buckle a bit. Oh God, someone pass me a bucket.

Aaahhh. NZR the forever friend, telling you with one hand I want you to be strong while the other arms around your shoulder reminding you that you'll always be too pathetic to do this by yourself.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

A two round domestic competition plus TT will give you 16/17 games, winners in each country, a genuine domestic competition, room for growth, independence, a TT competition, Champions league possibilities with other countries ie; Japan & SA. However that does require forward thinking.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And that just highlights the complete folly of trying to find solutions using a model that will never deliver you any long term stability. Chasing never ending pots of gold with some foreign entity just confines you to forever being a beggar, once you've sold the kitchen sink there isn't much...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But NSW and QLD aren't ruining the game, 90% of those people are running sausage sizzles on Saturday keeping there clubs afloat, just like in Melbourne. The issue has always been on the over reliance of servicing a top down performance model that 90% of Australians have little attachment to...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But that's the problem your solution will ensure the exact model you rail against will stay in place. The over reliance on a single entity to run the code will forever be an albatross around its neck, who the f---k is ever going to make themselves redundant. And just like the wallabies, having...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And what about all the money we've had for 20 years, don't you remember taking over the world with Super rugby, It will always take money. So how much has those 2 Fountain gate members cost the game. So what is our new updated business plan. A TT competition alliance with a union who have just...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

So what happens when somehow those trophies don't make it to the cabinet, and what happens if the right people somehow are not in charge. So what happens when the Lions stop touring due to club games dictating availability. And what happens when somehow with all that money, the only plan you...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The real growth in Australian rugby will come from a decent Domestic product, this Wallaby fantasy of pots of gold is what got us to our current situation. A successful Wallabies can help compliment that growth. But just like those wonder years of Wallaby success when apparently we out-rated the...
