Full report here http://www.hpw.qld.gov.au/SiteCollectionDocuments/StadiumTaskforceReport.pdf Ballymore section starts page 151. Ballymore as a Major Events Venue The Taskforce is aware of the venue’s history which includes obtaining Development Approval from Brisbane City Council for...

They mention that and are supportive. Hence why they are open to changes to the Deed to allow some land to used to raise funds to develop its training admin hub capabilities.

    Reds 2019

anyone hopeful of a re-development and/or return to Ballymore wont enjoy the Final report from Stadiums Queensland. Basically says its 'land locked' location makes it an inappropriate venue for major events. recommends demolition of grandstands - returning the ground to a training and admin...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

move to summer and watch the last remaining fans shift to AFL or League. Union need to increase its content and presence during the "footy season" not reduce it. Summer night games scheduled against the BBL juggernaut? good luck with that!

    Where to for Super Rugby?

RE: Trans-tasman comp. Any upside for this comp would be from significantly increasing Australian viewers, crowds and broadcast dollars. I'm not at all surprised NZR dont want to take a punt on that path. The only thing that could make it viable is overseas broadcast dollars. the kiwis and...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

For me Super 14 still carries the same issues as the current structure: 6 or 7 home games per season 2 or 3 games played in SA/ARG time zone 2 or 3 games played at 4.30/5.30pm Oz time. Far too little prime time content. And it is still on Pay TV only. There are just too many barriers there...

In the case of Hooper - who plays solely as a seven - the 5 year contract suggests RA don't think a better 7, who may dislodge him, will come along in the next 5 years. thats a massive call in test rugby.

Derpus, totally agree that as Captain and most marketable player they should get more top up. I certainly wouldnt think AAA commands a top up anywhere near Hooper/Folau. my point was more about their ability to maintain performance over the length of the contract, given their respective ages -...

    Reds 2019

i have no insights to these top up amounts, but i would be surprised if his top up was even 70% of Hooper/Folau who are Test Captain and Australian Rugby's biggest name, respectively.

    Reds 2019

On the "TBA" holes in the Reds squad at the time of announcement - not one of the subsequent announcements has strengthened the squad. This is an incredibly young and green squad. For them to have success in the next 2 years they will have to prove to be a squad of incredibly talented and...

    Reds 2019

For me the Hooper and Folau signings were a concern because of their age AND because of the size of the RA top up they command. I would think AAA and Petaia would not have a top up anywhere near the size of Hooper/Folau. So the risk with the AAA/Petaia signings sits largely with the...

    Proposed Nations Championship

there are some in the UK that would like to see the Lions tours ended. next tour has already been shortened. Clubs see the length of Lions tours as eating into 'their' time.

    Proposed Nations Championship

Derpus, agree on the attachment to 6N. and i'm with you on the RC - totally ambivalent. I like Bled as 2 test format.

    Proposed Nations Championship

i see you've relegated Wales completely out of the comp! ;) but yes that schedule would allow for TRC to stay as home and away - the 3rd Bled to stay (sigh) - and still get in the two tests against the other 'SH' teams (Japan being included in SH of course). The 2 biggest hazards i see are...

    Proposed Nations Championship

The biggest hurdle is actually Lions tours. You end up with a 4 year cycle that looks like: RWC year World League year Lions tour year World League year Back to RWC year again Would be almost impossible to play World League in year with a Lions tour.

    Proposed Nations Championship

Rebel 3. They have said they won’t change the newly created global calendar. This means NH teams will play 5 tests in 6 Nats and 2 or 3 tests in Nov. that’s 8 or 9 tests out of 11 played in NH. So that’s the first big advantage. In 6 Nats a team gets 2 or 3 home games, and in Nov all games...
