    Rebels 2020

In previous years every Rebel player was allocated to a club. I haven't seen a list for 2020 though. AFAIK, some have played Dewar Shield, some have been sent off to Shute Shield.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I seems a lot of people are assuming that after all the time, and money, and effort that Twiggy has spent on GRR he's going to just pull up stumps and shut it down. Because we need his money. If he were to bring the Force back (and I would love to see the Force back #strongeras5) I imagine...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I really think this is all being overthunk. Keep it simple. Super simple. 5 x NZ teams + 4 x Aus teams 16 rounds over 18 weeks, two weeks of finals. Done! Could look towards gradual expansion if this model works well enough. Could tack on an Asian/Pacific Champions tournament at the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Regarding that Roar article. It reads to me like someone has come up with a conclusion and then an argument to support it. Who are the "influential rugby heads" that he consulted? None are named or quoted. Neither does he cite any successful examples of a similar structure in any sport...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Can't disagree with that. I don't fully understand the way rugby is run in NSW but it seems to be all over the place, like a mad person's shit. Do you think that having different unions in the one state is hurting the game? Maybe if there was one controlling body in each state that runs...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yep, splitting the comp could work. Going to four conferences is exactly the point when SANZAAR screwed the pooch. Three x six could have worked brilliantly with the top two from each conference playing finals. As I mentioned in another post ages ago, not a particularly fair system but would...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The problems with 12 teams are: 22 rounds is probably too long for a home and away season 11 weeks is too short for a home or away season Aus probably can't compete adequately with five teams (although Aus teams did win the comp twice when we did have five teams) Unless we went back to a...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I recall reading that, with regard to the court matter, the board had given Castle a number that they were prepared to go to as a settlement. The settlement figure was significantly less than the board's maximum so she could close the deal on the spot. I imagine there could have been a similar...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Why not a comp with the existing nine super teams? 16 home and away rounds plus finals. If the Kiwis win the comp 80% of the time then it wouldn't be any different to now. If each Aussie team could hire a couple of gun foreigners (and it was financially viable to do so) it would even the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's based on a July restart though. i think it was Paul Docherty that added they thought August was far more realistic, given that teams will ideally want three weeks of training and a week of game prep. Restrictions would need to be eased by the beginning of June for a July start.

    Rebels 2020

DH-P and Reece Hodge were also on the panel. They explained what they were doing to keep fit/connected as well as a couple of specific skill examples during lockdown. One of the main take-aways for me, they say they need (ideally) three weeks of contact work plus a week of game prep to be...

I watched the Rugby Nation show today on Facebook. Locky Mccaffrey was the guest, interviewed by Sean Maloney and Beth Newman (obviously doing their own makeup). It was mostly horrible, painful Brumbies propaganda but, when asked, Mccaffrey seemed in favour of a domestic comp. I realise it's a...

    2020 crowds and ratings

Kodak invented digital photography, they produced the first digital camera way back in the mid '70s. My first digital was a Kodak (mid-late '90s). It was the size of a football and could take 8 x 1.4mp photos with its internal memory. They even produced the first wi-fi capable camera. Kodak...

    2020 crowds and ratings

Yeah, but..... Like vinyl records, since 2016 film sales are on the way back up. About a billion rolls were sold in 2002, by 2016 that was down to around 20,000,000. No one expects sales to get back to anything like 2002 levels but they have been improving by around 5-10% pa over the last...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The curtain raiser idea might be good for future seasons but not much point for this one. Pretty likely that any games played this year will be in empty grounds, broadcasters probably won't televise the early game in any case.
