Good summary there Echidna. The injury to the MCA 4, Miller, didn't look good - collarbone maybe? The MCA 6, Brosnan, looked to be out cold, so there must be a big chance that they'll both miss next week v SLC. Miller is more easily covered by Downes coming back from injury but Brosnan will be...

The MCA v SPC round got washed out last year, so the 16A's never played each other. Knowing Dave Miles there's no chance of Ashgrove underestimating SPC this week, they will be preparing for a battle. Re Emosi, he's been a powerhouse this year and was looking unstoppable before injuring his...

You might be a bit confused there Thommo, but this week it's MCA v SPC at Ashgrove, with the SPC v Padua game at SPC in the last round. I agree that SPC probably aren't getting the credit on here they deserve, but then again you're probably the first SPC supporter to post on here this season...

If the rest of this forum is like me, they haven't posted, and didn't t intend to post, about the Eddies v Villa result for at least three reasons. Firstly, Eddies winning was hardly a massive shock given the game was at Ipswich, Eddies have been going OK and Villa haven't won a game...

That last sentence is absolutely right. Reminds me of what the old RL coach Warren Ryan would always tell his forwards: "no shit yards inside out".

I only just noticed today that Ashgrove did not lose a single AIC rugby game v Padua last Saturday. Allegations of poor sportsmanship and bad refereeing aside, you have to give some credit to the MCA rugby program for that effort.

I have to say that the groundsmen at Tingalpa do a magnificent job. Every field out at Villa Park is like a carpet, and that's been the case for many years now. SLC has made a good start to renovating Runcorn with the new pavilion and change rooms, the first real improvement in almost 50...

For those at the Padua v MCA game, did Ash struggle in the line-outs? I thought they might be in some trouble in the set pieces yesterday after losing both second rowers in recent weeks, McVeigh for the season in the Cranbrook game and then John Downes last week. Hopefully Downes is back next...

Re Emosi, he suffered a bad knee injury in Year 10/U15's which has taken a long time to come good and restricted his ability to train, hence why he played last year at 135kg. He looks up to 10kg lighter and much more mobile this year, and is absolutely crucial to MCA's prospects.

Not a bad history lesson there GO, pretty accurate, but I can definitely remember that Nudgee were rubbish in the early to mid 80's, and not much better in the mid-late 70's. Apart from Tony D'Arcy (77) and Ross Hanley (78) it's hard to think of any notable players produced by NC over that...

Yep, without knowing exactly what the coaches have in mind, I thought there was a bit of experimentation with the starting forward pack, and maybe one or two missing. Downes worked pretty hard but I suspect that they will want him hitting it up a bit wider than he was today playing as a lock...

Ashgrove played Cranbrook (CAS, Sydney) at home this afternoon and won 38-19. The scoreline is a bit misleading however, Ash were leading 38-7 at the end of the 2nd period (game played in thirds, not halves) before taking 5-6 starters off and giving some of the younger boys a run. Length of the...

Lauries seem to be playing an inordinate number of pre-season games this year - by my count they had played 5 First XV trials before heading over to NZ, with another trial v MCA to follow the tour. It will be interesting to see if this preparation pays off, I guess it's a fine line between...

BTS -you are a genius for looking at the under 16 table BUT you forget to add: 7 or 8 boys from last years 1stxv; 4 odd from from last years 2nd xv. Countryjack, just out of interest, how many of this year's NC First XV would you expect to be turning 18 in 2017? I assume that as usual TSS...

Wratten might well be back on the farm. It would be a bit of a waste if we don't see Wratten again, he could have become (and still might be) a very good loose forward. Big and strong, and a great ball runner.
