Let's not get carried away given 2 of the 15 play extra-curricula league to the best of my knowledge. This year group has been strong throughout and without the injection of scholarship players know each other's play. They play in the traditional high risk running Waverley way but their skill...

    CAS Rugby 2017

I would disagree with that analysis. Very unfortunate head clash that lead to the SJC No 12 coming off (and the #6 ? as well - hope he is better) but it was the result of a last ditch tackle to stop a Waverley try (which they did) early on. But to have centres who can change the game's...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Re Wavcol academics, there is no relative 'measure' of how schools go, not what types of ppl they produce. The SMH measure is an artificial one, but even if you take it as THE measure then the 2017 HSC class got the 2nd best result to date. As the previous headmaster said at a P&F meeting, old...

    CAS Rugby 2017

i didn't see last week but this week was certainly entertaining. I do think that home ground counts for a lot more in schoolboy rugby than elsewhere but it was a very Randwick-esque performance from Waves. Support players aplenty, high intensity with occasional high risk that didn't come off in...

    CAS Rugby 2017

    F/T 66-7 Waverley.

    CAS Rugby 2017

One way traffic. Shore has had very little ball & tackled all half. Tiring now. Wav 66-7.
  7. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

    59-7. Reserves bench emptied now.
  8. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

52-7. 14-14 in personnel as two cards for high tackles. Reserves now running on.
  9. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

Wav 45 - 7. Roles reversed now with Wav 75 percent of ball
  10. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

    More ball - Wav 38-7.
  11. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

Wav now has ball w/o penalties. Wav 31-7
  12. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

    Second half started. Wav 26-7.
  13. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

Wav 19-5 at oranges. Growing penalty count for not-sure-what. Wav has had relatively little possession but make metres every time. If they get more ball next half could be a blowout. If not will be tight.
  14. BRUMBIEJACK

    CAS Rugby 2017

2nds Wav 49-21 1sts Wav 12-5 (Shore just scored). Shore look big, Wav look creative. Penalty count mounting against Waves but now 19-7 Waves. Waves always look dangerous with ball butShore has had weight of possession to date.

'...as GPS rugby all but drives the game.' OK, I'll take the bait - are you $%#@!! kidding me. That may well be part of the problem. As a CAS parent whose comp contributes its good share of Wallabies I find that a bit strange. Indeed, given the relative lack of 'music scholarships' one could...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

CAS comp has been unbalanced in recent years ? In the last 6 years the shield has been won or shared by five out of the six schools. How much more balanced do you want it ?

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Thanks for picking up the grammar. the problem for 'mixing up' a GPS/CAS trial game round (and even more marked for ISA) is the disparity b/w the numbers of teams that each school can produce across age groups. In the CAS only Knox and Waverley still have large rugby programs in terms of team...

    CAS Rugby 2017

Unfortunately when you pay big bucks to professionals in an amateur competition, with a school with the biggest player base to draw from and the best facilities going around, I would have thought that 30/30 is the only acceptable KPI. 'Not too bad' is high praise for a teacher/coach, for...

    CAS Rugby 2016

On the very positive side I think the 'gap' between scholarship-infused GPS rugby and CAS rugby may have narrowed. On the negative side the continued contraction in the number of teams in some CAS schools is increasingly worrying. Not sure that ARU give a toss though.

    CAS Rugby 2016

For & against is meaningless really, although the reference to it as a measure is a bit disturbing. Given the full-time coaching staff at Knox I assume that for/against may be a KPI as that is all they are employed to do. For Waverley the teacher/coaches started substituting Year 11 1sts players...
