Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I don't see the AFL currently being much of a factor at all. Kids (and their parents) that are into their contact sport if playing 2 games per weekend will probably play league first and rugby second. In deciding which game they do play, if they do have to choose, they would probably choose...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

QH league changes to Sunday on the peninsula (and across Sydney) at U/16 not U/15

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I agree with all you say except I think we have to work around, and cater for the opposite day that rugby league is played. Although in the transition from 12 to 13's there does seem to be a significant drop in numbers which I assume would be boys starting school rugby on the weekends therefore...

so what's the blueprint to stop the decline and fix everything ?

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

My information tells me that in the Gordon 16's teams Chatswood will not survive post state champo's, and Wahroongah will be signing boys on who are not playing in the village comp only for the Gordon reps. I hope this info is incorrect. This is one of the big reasons there is the decline in...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

SATURDAY SEVENS All Clubs should have received an information letter and an entry form for the Saturday Sevens Competition to be run at St Lukes, Concord. This is an effort to promote Rugby to those not currently playing in an organised school game. We desperately need to encourage “new...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Apparently that Hunters Hill A team from last years U15's has all but dissolved with only 4 players returning in 2014. GO111 - see posts 471, 514, and 518. I rest my case Another one. Newport, Narrabeen and Wakehurst have also joined in the U16's = Warringah Rep team. Having 2 graded...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Further I have just found out that the 15's HH coach has the gig for the Northern Zone 15's this year. Does this mean that as well as the village club and district teams out west being weakened, the zone team out west will be weakened also ? Are we not trying to build the game in in western...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I also hear in the age group below at Hunters Hill / North's there are a number of players from out west in the team that get bused in for games. Not sure but I think the VP reps for SJRU and NSWJRU is a Hunters Hill guy also.

In the 16's this year Mosman have joined with hunters hill which = Norths rep team

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

In the older age groups joint ventures happen naturally anyway. It just needs to be formalized and in the A comp called for what it is "a rep team". In this years 16's age group there are 2 teams from Gordon one of which I hear intends to fold after the state champos. The same thing happened...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Change is imminent, stage one is in place. In Warringah (although according to the SJRU not allowed to be called Warringah, or wear Warringah jerseys ?) the 16's and possibly the 15's have all the village clubs remnants of players joining in graded teams to keep boys on the paddock. All ready it...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

All Sydney teams playing at the one venue this weekend. I assume so all the boys can be watched by the powers that be. In some teams it will be interesting to see if the school you go to and not performance has an influence on being in the starting team or game time. I fear it will.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

wasn't the whole idea of the JGC to be a selection pathway through to the national 16's then to oz schools, hence 15's and 17's. So are they going to drop the 15's in JGC now ? it will be interesting to see if the schools still have their carnival if the ARU is still sniffing around.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

its now official the new pathway to gold is via rugby league. This thread is now closed down and no longer required because junior rugby union is obsolete. See you on the sidelines fellow mungo's
