Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

MOTH I think numbers wise you have to work around league. I also think 15's colts as well. A lot of players drift to league at these ages because of their rep program. A lot of players drift away from union because of a lack of one. The ARU has obviously identified these age groups already with...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I'm not sure i would put my house on the accuracy of that statement. Man on the hill, Yesterday at 6:02 PM Report #188 Unless things have changed (because they pay junior referees to encourage more people to become refs), the more referees that a village clubs provides they get a rebate off...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

One challenge that Sydney Juniors faces with Saturday Games is the unavailability of volunteers - Coaches, managers, administrators, committee folk and general volunteers. While it is a generalisation, many of the aforementioned Village Club volunteers that are essential to keep the Village...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

firstly different states have different issues and therefore have to be dealt with differently. I can only comment on Sydney. The level under S15 ie. current district rugby and the junior feed into it is critically important. The NRC is a nice idea but it will be unaffordable as it was...

why do club teams fold, and players leave the game in junior village club rugby in the older age groups ? super teams (rep teams) forming and village club teams folding rugby league rep pathway (Harold Matts 16's, fleg 18's) offers something rugby does not exodus of year 11 and 12 private...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I don't really agree with Saturday rugby in totality, just the district rep program at the critical age groups. I think you need to dangle a carrot in front some players to keep them there and bring them through to colts and senior rugby and you do that via a rep program played on a Saturday...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I don't think it is that they are not listening, they are listening but nobody is willing to make the hard calls. there is also the issue of 1. Too many private school old boys having too much power. 2. too many old people (age) in general have too much say in what happens. When someone gets...

Unfortunately they're not listening, probably because it doesn't really interest them, but hoorah for you quick hands you seem to be on the right track.

how do we fix it, who do we go to ? I have been on Sydney Juniors and they're not interested. A good man in NSWJRU is Gus Gutterage ( don't know if I spelt surname right). I fear a lot of the hirarchy might not care because of their allegences. maybe we just go to the newspaper, I have a...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I wonder was the levy imposed to cover short falls in revenue for the JGC ? Do the schools incur the same development levy ? If not, do the schools get the benefits that club rugby provides ? see attached letter from NSWRU

heard a rumour that the ARU this year is levying $200 per junior team

I agree entirely but the districts zone program is critical to achieving the desired outcome of meaningful competition whilst still looking after the village clubs.

Change the perception that people have of rugby. Make the game `a game of the people' the rules of the game are not the issue and even if they were part of the problem I don't think you will change them. I was talking more about the fact that there is a perceived class distinction between league...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

And what sport there is in government schools has to be coached and managed by the teachers. Many of the rugby stalwarts in the CHS system are at or near retiring age, or have been promoted away from the coalface or have just had enough. Rugby is a particularly difficult sport to coach safely if...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

As usual a lot of words fly around that have no constructive solution to making the game that I love even better. Like it or not the game in Australia is perceived throughout rugby league circles, and by NZ as a game that is played by a bunch of private school toffs. This is further reinforced...

Sydney Junior Rugby Union - 2013

if your boy is playing that much footy coupled with league union and school and study etc etc, he could quite possibly be doing too much ! I don't think I would like to be travelling to the other side of Sydney for a game on a wed night.
