Brad Thorn's gym training and physical philosophy.

Great video and indicative of the work ethic of a great player. On a purely selfish note, at the end of the video when he was doing the bridge hold and said three minutes was a challenge I was thinking "Yes!! There's something I can beat him on! I can do 6-7 minutes!"

Brumbies v Reds Super Rugby round 14

Très amusant, coming from someone who has posted "...when the Reds win on Saturday...". I want the Brumbies to win on Saturday but I'm not so arrogant as to expect it. Leave the triumphalism to the mungos game tomorrow night and focus on what should be a cracking game. BTW, if anyone's...

Brumbies v Reds Super Rugby round 14

The main flaw I see with emuarse's assessment is the assumption that this match will consist of 30-44 individuals. The Brumbies of 2012 have a team spirit that the Reds of 2010 and 2011 similarly had, and the Reds of 2012 have only exhibited in patches. The synergy of a strong team culture...

Welcome Back To Super Rugby The Cats?

Brisbok, I think Stu was channelling South Park's underpants gnomes with his suggestion for the Northern red Bulls

    Cringeworthy Kearns/Martin moments.....minutes......hours......

Agree with this. The only problem with watching the game online and having the G&GR commentary was that they were out of sync and the commentary came through 5 seconds late. If this problem could be fixed I'd swap commentary from the TV to G&GR.

    Stephen Larkham - Brumbies saviour

I do know that Bernie and Greg Somerville are going to the World Vintage Rugby carnival in Honolulu at the end of September. We're sending a team and are hopeful that Bernie will have a run with us.

    Jarrod Saffy v The Rebels

Although Saffy's injury is nothing to laugh about, I did have a chuckle at the Fairfax Radio newsreader's stuff-up when reporting it. http://www.radiotoday.com.au/news/fun-stuff/500-just-one-wrong-letter.html

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

As an aside, is anyone here going to the State of the Union lunch at the Hotel Realm tomorrow? Also, as per Braveheart's earlier post, are forum members up for a post match drink at the Wig and Pen?

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

The Chiefs didn't look jet lagged in their game against the Canes and the Brumbies fitness training has been superb this year. Also the Brumbies were back in Canberra by the time the Tahs had their game against the Crusaders. I don't think it's going to be a big factor. As for Steve Walsh...

The Physical Strength of Australian Players

I can relate to that, being an instructor in another sport who is a relative newbie to rugby. I think I'm driving my coach crazy asking technique questions. I've also found I apply the body self-awareness skills I've picked up through ski instructing to my play - thinking where my shoulders or...

    Rugby Forum Rankings

Thanks Paarl for bumping this thread as I missed it first time around. People in the office have been wondering what's so funny when I started laughing at Moses' post. I can envisage a whole lot of 15 year old girls in their bedrooms on laptops thinking "I've, like, been seriously, like, owned...

    Rugby TV Shows

I have met him and his on-camera persona is a geniune extension of his personality. I took him and his wife for a ski lesson a couple of winters ago. It was funny because I didn't initially realise it was him because the whole group was rugged up with beanies or helmets and googles, and on a...

The best thing about the Rugby Club is playing cliche bingo with the Green and Gold Rugby scorecard.

An Independent Commission for Australian Rugby?

Cosgrove is an excellent choice with his leadership and management experience, plus he has had to deal with politicians and senior bureaucrats through his roles in East Timor and as CDF. Arbib would have a good understanding of government and bureaucratic process with his ministerial experience...

    Brumbies 2013

You don't have to live in Canberra if you're a pollie. There are 226 Federal parliamentarians and only 4 of them live in Canberra (5 if you include Queanbeyan). The remainder fly in for the weeks Parliament is sitting and then fly home again - the Qantas Club in Canberra is packed to the...

The Wallabies problem positions: Discussion thread.

I agree with this. I have previously thought that Lilo was a solid Super Rugby level player but may not have been able to make the step up to Test level. This year he has come ahead substantially and looks like a Wallaby contender. Kurtley performs so much better when he has time and space and...

    Hooper to Waratahs

But it is Sydney, isn't it?

    Hooper to Waratahs

Ohh, I can play that game too. How about comparing this in Canberra to this in Sydney (with bonus crime scene tape) Amazing what Google images comes up with when you type "Fairfield cafe"

Jake White: Next Wallaby Coach 2014+?

I think that's true to some extent, but the way the Brumbies played on Saturday was both 'entertaining' and 'winning'. I think the match against the Clan also falls into that category.
