Thanks to Green and Gold Rugby: A Lone Winner

Hugh, it will never get published but I reckon it would be worthwhile sending it because you'll hear the splutters of indignation from your place when they get it.

    On Reds Cards ................................

The arguments have been 'don't go for redcards in big games as they ruin them' and, in the absence of alternatives, that would be a green light for foul play which would really ruin the spectacle. I agree that alternative sanctions such as suspensions following video match reviews could work in...

    On Reds Cards ................................

The implication of this would be a green light for foul play, just because it's a 'big game'. If referees were reluctant to give red cards due to fear of ruining the spectacle then those players with dubious moral compasses would be more likely to take the wrong decision because the chance of...

That would have made for interesting times in the change room ;) Oh, you mean Danie.

    Argies in the 4N

Which are the only four countries really where league is played. The Lebanese team in their World Cup was full of Bulldogs players.

    Argies in the 4N

Yes, it's a long way from Australia but not so far from South Africa. Qantas' soon to be Oneworld partner, Malaysian Airlines, has a direct flight from Cape Town that takes 9 hours. Coming back will require a stopover in Santiago and either Qantas or LAN to Sydney or Auckland. Now we'll know...

    Showdown with the IRB

Those benefits from inbound tourism are hard to quantify but are real. I was over for a week and had four nights in the Hawke's Bay region in between the matches in Auckland/Hamilton and Wellington. That was my first time there and I will definitely be back and I've told my father that he...

NZ Rugby's Secret Solution to Aus Centres

True, but it was 10 years ago IIRC.

Adam Freier - appears to have good propects for a journo career

I can say from experience that that saying is inaccurate when it comes to skiing. I didn't become a true skier until I started instructing and the examination process means you can't achieve certification levels unless you're technically proficient.

    Rugby spirit

Like HKTiger I have come to play rugby later in life, although I'm a bigger procrastinator as it took me until the age of 42 to pull on the boots for the first time. I was a lukewarm league supporter for a while before becoming a rugby tragic after going to a Super 12 match at Canberra Stadium...

Kiwi hate vibe is marring World Cup

I've just returned from a week in New Zealand and had a great time. Overall I think that they're putting on a great tournament from my experiences at the Australia v Ireland match in Auckland, Wales v Samoa in Hamilton and Australia v USA in Wellington. Had four days in Napier in between and...

    RWC - Wallabies v Ireland - 17th September 2011

There were a couple of occasions on Sunday where the rain showed up on TV. I was checking the NZ Met Service website for the Auckland forecast and it stated that Auckland received over 30mm of rain on Sunday. Forecast for Saturday is showers in the afternoon.

RWC Pool Match: Wallabies vs Ireland (Supporter meetup)

RWC Pool Match: Wallabies vs Ireland (Supporter meetup)

Got my tickets tonight. Staying with friends there after the Ireland game and we're all heading down to Wellington (via Hawke's Bay).

Potential upsets at this years WC - year of the minnow?

Japan are improving and so are the Canucks, judging by what I saw from the BaaBaas game. The Japan v Canada game will be one to watch. Agree about Pool D. Just realised that I will be in Hamilton for the Wales v Samoa game - I'll get tickets for that one. Good results from the minnows...

Tactics for the Trinations Final in Brisbane

Antipodean might have a better idea of the tactics for tomorrow's game seeing he was invited to the ABs captain's run this afternoon, although they generally don't give too much away at those sessions. Hope he enjoyed the experience.

    Brumbies 2012

The Grassroots tab has a link to our club's website but they've spelled it wrong. I think I'll give them a call today.

The reason JOC (James O'Connor) was absent from the RWC squad announcement...

I noticed this error in the 'report' Stade Francais is the rugby club, the writer was actually referring to Stade de France - the stadium in the Paris suburb of St Denis.
