    Brumbies 2013

I think that's fantastic news, particularly in the way that he has battled depression and won. Apparently it was the Legends game earlier this year where he played with a few of the former Brumby players (and a few ACT Veterans Rugby players as well) against the Wests Legends that rekindled...

Choosing a ITM team to follow

I'm not a Kiwi but I think Christian Cullen was actually from Paekakariki and not Paraparaumu. I'd say that people may think he's from Paraparaumu because that's the main regional centre for the Kapiti Coast and CC probably went to school there - Paekakariki is only a small town. Edited to add...

Choosing a ITM team to follow

My friend's father was a scrummie for Waikato in the 70s, so I go for the Mooloo men. My mate's a Hurricanes supporter though as he lived in Wellington for 15 years before moving back to Hamilton a few years ago - I don't know if he's recently jumped on the Chiefs bandwagon, but he certainly...

Grand Prix Entertainment sell NY franchise for $10 million

And remember, the United States is the reigning Olympic champion in rugby having won the gold medal the last time it was contested, in 1924 IIRC.

    John Kirwan new Blues coach

Sir JK had an interesting chat with Marc Ellis on More FM Auckland this morning. He was very aware that the culture of the organisation needs to change and that he faces competition from the NRL for young talent in the Auckland area. He also wants to break down the provincial tribalism and get...

    Brumbies v Blues Round 18

Oh no! The Pieman has finally tipped the Brumbies to win, we're rooted!

    2012 IRB Junior World Championship

That 5 metre scrum where the South African front rowers demolished the Kiwis was the turning point of the match that the commentators opined at the time. The South African tighthead certainly gave the Kiwi loosehead a gobful when the Boks got the penalty.

    Vuna gets off

That's how I saw it too. He looked sheepish rather than cocky.

What is with the locations for domestic Rugby Championship games?

The problem for Canberra is that the big test matches in winter are usually scheduled for a 7:30pm kick-off which consequently discourages attendance at the ground because it's too bloody cold to sit out in the open air for two hours. For this reason the Brumbies have requested that the home...

What is with the locations for domestic Rugby Championship games?

It's good for Perth to get a big game and it's likely to be well attended but why are we giving the South Africans a 'home' game on our own soil? Then again, I suppose any Bledisloe Cup game in Australia is a semi-home game for the All Blecks.

    Waratahs - Positivity thread

Their jersey is a pretty colour.

Wallabies vs Wales - Suncorp Stadium June 9

The official OZTAM figures for pay TV show this: The Wallabies test was the top rating show on Fox and there's separate figures for Adelaide and Perth because of time zones. The ratings also show the All Blacks v Ireland test was #6.

John I Dent Cup and ACT competition - 2012

I would have thought that the seven teams correspond with the seven discrete districts within the Canberra-Queanbeyan urban area. Uni-Norths - North Canberra; Easts - South Canberra; Wests - Belconnen; Royals - Woden/Weston Creek and Tuggeranong, Gungahlin and Queanbeyan in their respective...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

If a defending team infringes in their 22 and the attacking team successfully kicks a penalty goal, the restart is a scrum at the point of infringement (attacking team feed) instead of a kick from halfway. This would discourage teams from giving away cynical penalties in the knowledge that...

    Brumbies 2013

Good to see a report on the ACT Legends v Wests Legends match. I missed the game as I was working at Thredbo and doing some preparation for an instructor exam next week. The bloke in the photo, Troy, is a teammate at the ACT Vets.

Homonyms, they get you every time ;)

Wallabies vs Wales - Suncorp Stadium June 9

Well I'm not surprised that Deans doesn't let him use his flare. If it's as big as you say it is and Cooper lets it off during the game, he'll probably blow the stadium up. Oh.... you mean 'flair'.

Channel 9 continues the tradition of absymal free to air rugby coverage...

The ratings figures for last night are out. Nine won the night with 27.4% share and the Diamond Jubilee concert average viewing figure over the three hours it was on was 1.124 million in the five metropolitan areas. The Wallabies test match was the highest rating pay TV programme with a national...

Channel 9 continues the tradition of absymal free to air rugby coverage...

It would be more effective if the email campaign is directed straight to Channel 9. I have a friend who works in the broadcasting area of Conroy's department and he's the poor bloke who will have to draft the letters responding to the emails - he said to me that there's nothing much the...
