Australia v. France 10 Nov 2012 Stade de France, Paris

How many minutes of game time is it since the Wallabies last scored a try?

Australia v. France 10 Nov 2012 Stade de France, Paris

The slo-mo replay of the French second rower fondling the prop's package in the scrum was an interesting choice of camera work.

    Respect for Refs..an interesting article

As a former RAAF officer I would agree with that one. Officers of higher rank were always addressed as 'Sir' or 'Ma'am'.

    Brumbies 2013

Suckerforred and Pink Rugby should probably head over to the Canberra Times website as there's a few photos of David Pocock sans maillot doing sprints. The CT has been quite shameless, putting one of those shirtless photos on the front page to try to sell their rag to young female public servants.

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

I made a similar suggestion a few months ago in the thread "If you could change the rules of rugby what would you change". I'm pleased to see I'm not alone on this one...

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

Bret Harris is one of the journalists at The Australian who covers rugby. Judging by the comments on the article it has gone down like a lead balloon.

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

And Bret Harris has suggested in an article on the Fox Sports website that rugby officials should consider getting rid of unlimited phases and having a turnover after around 7 phases. Next he'll be suggesting getting rid of the two flankers and then lineouts. If a team doesn't have the skills...

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

I went up to Brisbane to see the game live and I've said that it was worth every cent. I don't care that there were no tries, it was an absorbing contest between two teams that fought for 85 minutes. Everyone around me was on the edge of their seats as the Wallabies edged towards the line and...

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

. . . and the ball carrier roots the ground for five seconds, then gets up and plays the ball.

Bryce Lawrence - JO'N forced my retirement

No I missed that game. The games I've seen him ref I was impressed with how he went, given his inexperience. That said he probably does need a bit of time before reffing big matches but I think the potential is there and I'm sure that the he will have learned a lot from the shocker.

Bryce Lawrence - JO'N forced my retirement

Poor Bryce, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. At least one of the up and coming refs is more than a capable replacement, as Glen Jackson has been very impressive with what I've seen of him. I suppose that being a Super Rugby player has provided Jackson with a great insight...

World Vintage Rugby Carnival - Honolulu - 23-30 Sept 2012

The Oldest Rat, good to hear that you had a great time. I heard that Bernie was interviewed by the Balls N All sports show on Mix106.3 Canberra and he told them about the carnival and what a great time he had. I went through the photos on my camera (I got some of the WAGs and injured players...

The Brumbies Facebook/Twitter announcement says it's Ruan Smith, not Juan Smith.

World Vintage Rugby Carnival - Honolulu - 23-30 Sept 2012

It's not every day you get to play alongside a World Cup winning flyhalf. Both Bernie and Greg Somerville made sure they played with or against every team at the carnival. Bernie played a couple of full games with the ACT Veterans as he considers us to be his home team. One of the funnier...

World Vintage Rugby Carnival - Honolulu - 23-30 Sept 2012

Just an update about the carnival. It was a great experience with a good combination of physical games and the camaraderie that comes when rugby players from around the world get together. The ACT Veterans played matches against PacLantic RFC (a combined NZ/US team), the Samoa Golden Oldies...

The TV Broadcasting of Australian Rugby

[Short term thread derailment] I work weekends instructing at Thredbo. Done 9 seasons now. Was a good season too - I had the best day of the season off as I played the Jindabyne old boys in a charity match that afternoon, so I got 2.5 hours of awesome skiing in before grabbing the kit and...

The TV Broadcasting of Australian Rugby

I was in Thredbo last week and assumed that WIN would have the game on live. How wrong was I? I'm home this weekend so I'll be watching it live and uninterrupted on Fox Sports. Gee I hate FTA television and their contempt for rugby followers.

World Vintage Rugby Carnival - Honolulu - 23-30 Sept 2012

The fifth World Vintage Rugby Carnival is taking place at Queen Kapiolani Park, Honolulu from Sunday week. Stephen Larkham and Greg Somerville will be attending the carnival, which features nearly 50 teams from around the world. More information about the carnival is at...
