    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I'd take plenty of strings. You want a highlights show at 3am for free? Sure, we live in the ages of IQ and Tivo afterall. Foxtel need to pull their head out of the sand and realise that if they let people wet their beaks then they might have some new sign-ups for the sports package. It's a...

Rebels vs Force, Round 10, 2014

To say someone didn't have any impact when their try that was the 'dagger' is a bit odd. That try was probably what put the game beyond reach and was not as simple as some might think, it came from a good read of the situation and had plenty of post contact metres. Like I said, I'd be...

Canberra Vikings - Offical NRC Team Thread

Yeah I've read a little about that. Honestly, having 2 or 3 country teams in the SS that feed into this NRC team makes more sense to me than what they're doing now. It also shows rugby has enough of a base in the area to pursue "performance" rather than "participation" goals, which can lead...

Canberra Vikings - Offical NRC Team Thread

You'd probably push for them to provide a Shute Shield team for a year or two beforehand.

Rebels vs Force, Round 10, 2014

Firstly, Cliffy is (by the stats) Australia's most effective ruck forward. If you're going to cite McCalman's stats then you're obviously a man who values that kind of data. Secondly, Higgers' try undoubtably was the key point of the game. The scrum turned the unfavourable direction, there...

    Rebels 2014

I disagree, here's a post I just wrote up on the other thread on the Higgers V McCalman debate particularly focusing on the stats available from the Force V Rebels game. As a side note, I see no dominant 6 currently and with Cliffy's injury status a dice roll I see no reason why they can't be...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

These pay walls are really shitting me. Care to give me the gist of the article?

Rebels vs Force, Round 10, 2014

As a percentage of total tackles made by both teams it's pretty on par, I think Higgers may have even made a higher percentage of tackles. Plus like you've said, the disparity in stats raises questions. I always balk a bit at the 'tackles made' stat because it's so inconclusive. Were they the...

    Rebels 2014

I think Higgers really put the McCalman V Higgers argument to rest, he was very good last night. Perhaps they could still be a 6/8 combo though.

    Rebels 2014

So what's our opinion on this Sam Jefferies guy? Worth a shot in the top squad next year? With both Pyle and Thompson gone, you'd say he's virtually ensured of a spot if he's shown any promise. Good position to be in for the young lad.

    VRU 2014

Certainly interesting but I expect in due time to see Melb, Quins, and Moorabin take the top 3 in some order with Uni, EHills, and BHill (and Souths if they sort their shit) fighting for position 4. It's a shame really, 2013 is looking like the first year in a while that 5 or 6 teams deserve...

Signing Lilo won't delay anyone's future, he'll play plenty of 12. Infact, he may even start there because Inman goes fine at 13.

    Melbourne Rising 2014

I did hear that, but I presumed it'd be worth coming home for the ARC if the opportunity is there and seeing as he's still young enough to make something of himself.

    Great news!

NSW Country - - - NRC Official Team Thread

I imagine that they might only have named the Country squad a few weeks out from the tournament seeing as they'll probably end up cherry picking a player or two who misses out on his local team and has country links.

    Melbourne Rising 2014

You could go some (relatively) oldies and look to guys like Rich Aho at Uni, but I'd rather see us go some youngsters. Off the top of my head, Quins' 7 would be good and the young lock that captained them last year.

Lam is ACT raised (as is his brother who's had some success in NZ) and Tala is Victorian raised and was one of those very rare players who made Australian Schoolboys out of Victoria back in the day.

He's started 2 games so far and benched most of them, I wouldn't call EOYT out of the question. If is pretty strange he was sent to club rather than resting though.

    Western Force 2014

Is he really? I always wonder if he'll get back into the test squad, he's so consistent. I guess we just have too many LHs in Aus, so many that Alexander and Slipper are our test THs.

    Rebels 2014

Seems pretty moderate for Mr.Lahiff all things considered. I'd hate to think what some of the other boy's Dads would have to say seeing as Lahiff's critiques are usually of the favourable, but work-in-progress, variety. Inman is a big centre. The only big centre we have in the Wobs right now...
