Except their unswing in form happened last year when there wasn't all this change, before these blokes came in. Except Alofa of course, who was in the system in 2013 but didn't have a contract.

    S18 on its way

Japan's gateway to being competitive is that they have a 14 team league. Even France doesn't have 14 good sides in their league. It's simply not the way to improve their local game. Japan doesn't need Super Rugby, they need to run their local league better. That being said, having a Super...

    Rebels 2015

There's not a massive correlation between player turnover and improving performance in Aus Super Rugby. The Reds' improvement a few years back was with largely the same players as the previous year (though some in more or less senior roles), same goes with the Force this year and the Tahs last...

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

    That's a good alternative.

With the Medicare issues around rugby, they can keep him for a couple more months haha.

I hope Sau goes, that 36th Japanese spot is a handy one when injuries emerge late in the preseason and there's better Japanese outside backs than Sau anyway. Since we don't clash seasonwise with Japan it's best we move him on and sign a player at the 11th hour in Feb, I doubt we'd have trouble...

That and I get the feeling he can be a handfull. When you're a handful people are less inclined to do you favours, had he been a loveable larrikin maybe things would have been different.

I'm not anti-TT but whether it was in writing or on screen the quote was written by someone else. Obviously the player has to approve the quote, but remember these guys are speaking about their employer (who just rehired them for a rate they consider fair) and that employer is the one...

The success of League players in Rugby Union

Has he got an Italian Grandma? If there was Scottish in him I'd tip him to play test rugby.

A downside of professionalism is OF COURSE coaches want to take the path of least resistance. In what paid profession do you see large corporations take big risks regularly? There's a couple of notable examples (as there are in rugby) but it's not the norm.

I think the best thing that could happen is he could get a contract in France (more likely D2 than T14). We'd get to watch him play rugby (and potentially catastrophically fuck up again) without bemoaning Aussie rugby misspending (not that it's on the cards). We'd get all the entertainment for...

    Reds 2015

The best thing for everyone is for JOC (James O'Connor) to play fullback for the Reds and wing for the Wallabies in a CJ-type role (the 2nd fb is becoming very popular at professional level). That's presuming he performs in Super rugby, which is he's not a silly prick off the field I honestly think he will.

You're not wrong about 'JML' (as you call him) but in my opinion an 8's job is to bend the line, gaining metres for the backs to play around in the middle of the park and popping up out wide as an extra man when called for. Whether those metres come 1 pass out from the ruck or 2 passes out from...

    Brumbies 2014

When the Stormers had only one fit hooker in their squad for finals a couple of years ago they were allowed to have Schalk Brits on the bench as long as they used him only as a hooker and not as an impact flanker (it's a thing the Stormers liked to do). At the time Brits had played finals for a...

    Reds 2015

Given the favours the Brumbies have done Vaea I think he'd have a heart of stone to go elsewhere. Houston wouldn't be the worst signing, hell at 27 he'd be a good one, but lets remember the Reds weren't great last time he was starting so I wouldn't be touting him as a necessary signing for...

Seems like Aussies have their mitts on half of the Japanese teams, can't one of them sign him and if he's good (and behaves) we can go from there.

    Reds 2015

He was over there for like 3-4 months and started a Top 14 Final, at 10 I believe. There's also a hilarious clip and him slapping a ball out of play in the try-zone (the done thing in league) and having a penalty try awarded against him. Lol. Point is, he played 10 in the 2nd best league in...

Large for a professional athlete? No. If you put him in a room with us, he'd be pretty large.

As a large polynesian man he'd put on 5-10kg of good weight in a month or two just by thinking about it.

    Reds 2015

Just asking. Is this all? It seems like a very long shot, very much a nothing piece of puff journalism. I'd love for him to come over though, he showed more in a few weeks with Biarritz than other players have shown after years in the game.
