It helps that Cron was basically the architect of the new scrum laws. Sneaky Kiwis.

Re: Dave Taylor. He fancies himself a centre, not an 8.

If we kept out pool structure (which we're not) I have no doubt we could have just started a Japanese conference. The Japanese league (and Japanese national selection) is dominated by 5 or so teams anyway, they could easily form a pool for very little added expenditure (6 or so games overseas...

I'm not really thinking Wallabies. Here's what's probably Chieks' reality, Italy has tabled an offer, Aus hasn't. I'm an Aussie, and his Super Rugby form meant if Link dropped dead tomorrow he'd deserve a crack. But, I'd rather that not happen because Link is actually doing well too.

It'd be worth giving Japan A a run.

I completely agree with you, that being said THE SPEARS? They haven't been called the Spears since the failed Super Rugby bid in like 2007. Not really, the difference is Argentinians can get contracted basically wherever but the Japs have this 'job for life' philosophy. It basically makes...

That's a tough one, the word fluffybunny isn't one they use in Italian. Though they have words they'd use in the same circumstance. Oh, you weren't seriously asking? My bad.

The success of League players in Rugby Union

He'd be a different kind of centre to what we're used to, and would need to change his body shape, but I wouldn't completely laugh the idea off. If he really wants to play centre he'd be better off going to France though where they love that type of player.

There was plenty of talk that the Rebels did.

Bad season or not, Quirk is young and promising. To let him go is absurd.

That would be fantastic, I think the greatest legacy a coach can offer the rugby world is to take a nation and raise them to new heights. Like Henry and Wales. I mean the ABs, Boks, and to a lesser extend Australia and England, will always be good, but Italy? We'll see.

Not at all, in fact it's fair to say you're drawing a long bow but inferring so much from so little. If they brought in an MMA coach during the week (or more likely over the break) and discussed using weight on your knee to get up and keep opposition players on the deck, that's certainly...

    Rebels 2015

The Brumbies rolled the dice and picked some players out of nowhere. Lucky for them enough of them turned out to be handy (though plenty of them went nowhere), it was a calculated risk but still a risk. At the time nobody was sweating on Mogg, Speight, Timani, Fardy, etc. They also plucked a...

Eh, there's work arounds. Get Horne defending in the line and your 9 dropping deep.

Harris and Hegarty could play left and right, a few teams do it.

Without the EPS how does it all work? Good signing Kellway, he's very promising.

    Western Force 2014

From what I saw against the Reds there were plenty of knees being dropped into guys by the Force on the weekend, and from at least 3 different players by my count. Pretty suss, I'd go so far as to say they might have been coached on it or at least discussed it. I have a soft spot for the...

Heggs' strength is his off the cusp to play, he runs great support lines and is a dynamo if he gets a 2nd touch of the ball. There's no reason he couldn't be a 2nd playmaker 15, no reason at all. It'd work great with TT's massive centre model, as Inman and Tamati Ellison aren't exactly fit to...

Agreed. The structure doesn't allow much player transition between the Japanese teams for the Japanese natives but there's no reason they couldn't only have 8 teams in their Top League (rather than 14), thus spreading the good player coming through less thin. Hell, with the way Super Rugby is...
