    Rebels 2017

Very happy with that second half performance by the Rebels - can't really complain about a 12-10 scoreline after half time particularly when I was expecting their typical collapse at the end. However, I will complain about Ben Meehan's stupid box kick. I didn't realise he was on until I saw...

    Rebels v Crusaders

Remember that as the moment I realised that Mortlock was really at the end of his career. Still knew where to be and when but didn't have the (or any) pace. Given I can't make the final game (against the Jaguars), this could be my last Rebels game (depending on the ARU of course) and if that...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

What were the problems? I have to admit that I hadn't really looked at the option - $50 isn't too bad for 2 NRC matches a week

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No, the Rebels licence is for 20 years.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But the ABL is still going isn't it?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Agree, the ARU screwed up. They were top of the world in 2003 from a financial and profile perspective and stuffed it. Broadcast deal is $57 million per year (previously was $23 million a year). It is interesting that with an extra $24 million per year that we are suddenly in financial...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Ice Hockey has a national league in Australia. Baseball has a national professional league in Australia Surely Rugby Union can manage it. We may lose some of the top players for a few years (until the bottom falls out of the European TV deals) but I can not believe under any circumstances...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It is going to be a massive issue on a global scale. Look at the massive layoffs in ESPN for on air talent. On a positive side, the other codes and Rugby overseas have further to fall. Australian Rugby has an opportunity to be proactive and try and plan for the change which will hit us from...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Nah, there is no rugby in WA ... Seriously, though. I would say so and perhaps that is one of the reasons why he voted against the proposal.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

9 members of the board - Clyne - Chairman - grew up in Penrith, went to Uni Sydney - Robinson - Deputy Chaiman - Born in Toowoomba, went to Uni Qld, Played for the Brumbies - Bill Pulver - CEO - Shore school, UNSW - Elizabeth Broderick - grew up in Caringbah, UNSW - John Eales - Queensland...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

At that price, I'll take all five thanks ....

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But if the ARU has signed contracts with the Rebels and Force. Surely that has more weight. Cox's license is 5 years under the funding arrangement and then a further 15 years unfunded. So if the ARU can hold out on making a decision until 2036 ...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Pretty apt summary. Although I think it should be noted that they can't drop the Rebels or the Force. I have heard no legal comments on why they couldn't drop the Brumbies, Reds or Waratahs.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And probably proper equalisation of the salary cap so the Rebels aren't playing Australian teams with 50% higher spend on player salarie

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It would skew the results very badly if it were at all correct but it is wrong. We didn't get a semi finalist in 2016 or in 2012. By year and purely on points: 2016 - 0 semi finalists - Brumbies finished 8th on points. 2015 - 2 semi finalists - the Waratahs were third on the ladder (on pure...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But the process is going smoothly.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Someone should tell Clyne that he selected and presented the statistics that support the decision that already had been made. Yeah, this year is a disaster but if just look at who won the competitions and made the semi's - 3 Australian teams - 9 years - 2 wins (Brumbies twice), 11...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Hehehe Still beat the Brumbies though

    Where to for Super Rugby?

If they have a signed agreement to drop a team and they can't legally drop the Rebels and Force, then either they go to court with one of the parties, find an appropriate alternative option for one of the parties or they drop the Brumbies. But this is all going to plan.
