Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

Scott Allen made some good points about the difference between the roles. I think Mowen works better when he is required to be less of a line breaker.

A dog ate my homework, sir. Honest.

Trolling is what amateurs do. Mark Reason gets to call it click-hunting.

I'm guessing that was meant to be a gee up, but can't we leave the ref whinging from the last game out of the thread for the next one?

Fair point. Just switching it up a bit in the scrum, since I think it's not clear what will work just yet. Now that I think about it, I'd have Slipper at THP and Kepu on the bench.

    ARU tackles homophobia

Sometimes creating public expectation helps make what is proposed a reality.

There is a huge difference between discussing whether a call was poor, particularly one to do with a try, and having a massive whine that the ref is a biased SOB. One can be interesting and even lead to new knowledge about the laws. The other is boring as batshit.

Where did we go wrong? Wallaby Recovery thread.

BH, since we've discussed this previously, you know I agree. It's what I was getting at regarding Horwill earlier. It's really noticeable when he goes to talk to the ref and seems very inarticulate. Compare this to McCaw - or Sam Warburton - and the difference is striking. Those guys are...

    He was. In 2012.

There is a problem with your logic. Take your time. You'll get there.

South African referees are ruining the game. :p

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

Yep. Hopefully Link is spending less time talking internally about the ref than he is in the media. We need to play well enough that it doesn't matter if we don't get the rub of the green.

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

As long as he immediately reaches forward after being tackled, it's fine. I don't have time to dig up the law, but it's different from league. The only issue would be if Moore was considered to have come to a complete stop and then played the ball. Peyper never says "knock on" or "played from...

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

If only there was a "double movement" law in rugby. Moore is tackled short of the try line and immediately reaches forward to place the ball. This is not a double movement and perfectly allowable. Whether he placed the ball or dropped it is a different story. It's atrocious that Peyper did not...

Is it just me, or do we see a much larger influx of trolls after each game now?

The sample size was so small that I left them out.

Yeah, this was my point. Especially with two reserve props, there is the capacity for a bit of experimentation with lower risk if it goes disastrously.
