Australia v Argentina, Sept 14th in Perth

So a better display from the forwards this week, at least in the loose. The weather made it very hard for the backs to capitalise, but it was good to see some more urgency from the pigs. They still don't realign fast enough or come around the corner with enough pace and intensity. A major reason...

No, no. That's crazy talk. Let's go back to what was mediocre in the past. o_O

Smart. That's what I'd be doing too.

Either way, they're both the cheap deck chairs from Aldi.

Australia v Argentina, Sept 14th in Perth

Yeah, kinda my point about bringing in Alexander. It's shuffling the deck chairs.

Australia v Argentina, Sept 14th in Perth

From the G&GR Rugby News email: "The other change to the starting team was the promotion of Ben Alexander to run-on tighthead in hopes of fixing the shaky Wallabies scrum." Says it all, really.

Personally, I'm shocked that the only forward dropped was Kepu (and for Alexander, who has repeatedly failed as well). Last week was one of the most pathetic performances from an Aussie forward pack in quite a few years. I really hope I'm wrong, but I think we'll see the same rubbish again...

Much as i respect Scott's work, we don't have to treat his word as gospel. My understanding has always been that the other forwards love Timani in the scrum. Although I suppose they could just be spinning shit for some reason.

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

Dear God. Why the fuck are we evening having this ACT vs QLD/ To'omua vs Cooper brouhaha?!? Forget state rivalry, people. The obvious and only choice is B Foley.

    Ant Fainga'a to THP.

    Yep, although Mogg scares me.

And the consequences for the NBA for paying potentials were not good. It's taken them 10 years to turn the system around and make sure that you had to be good first again.

Good question. Seems to me that we need to be making more ground around the ruck before getting our backs involved. Said backs must not run lateral but at angles and towards the line. Let's not try to run it out of our 22 all the time and force the Argies to play from deep in theirs.

"Zander" I'm shocked you didn't find room for Willy Skelton on the bench or Rob Horne at 12.

Nail, head. You'd hope that this is exactly where the focus is this week.

(As I've said before, I think the focus should be on the forwards too, it's just that I think there are some good reasons why it's pretty frustrating discussing them!)

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

On all this "talking about the backs" stuff. Part of the problem is that it's easier to understand what backs do and how they impact the game. But that's the easy answer. With the backs, we actually have guys who might make a difference. Who are the forwards that could be brought in to change...

This world was almost too topsy-turvy for me to handle. We get thrashed at Suncorp, Tony Abbott is PM, and Clive Palmer is going to Canberra. But at least some things stay the same. Never change, Shiggins.

Yep. The thing is, the big Bokke are brutes who do the tight work beyond anything else. Getting the advantage of mobility is a great bonus.

To my mind, we need to address the pack first and foremost. One way to think about is to consider who has been good and who has not over the last three games. I've chucked some guys into three categories. Some in the neutral are there because they simply haven't had enough time. GOOD: Fardy...
