Had to leave Scots v Waverley 1s at HT, but it was an entertaining and engaging 1st half, so would be grateful for any full time result. Final result Scots 36 over Waverley 28. A good hit out for both sides in a competitive encounter. Second half much the same as the first. Scots throwing the...

    * England lucky . Not sure that England is lucky. He creates a lot of space for those around him. Plenty of backs holding on to the ball for too long this week. England is a play maker. With steppers and speedsters around him he is the perfect tactician to create space for them. Not half bad...

how was his penalty count today? Smith was fine today....thursday he got caned. Always going to give a few away when you are in the thick of it for most of the match.

Shock horror....I think the selectors have most things right.... But can't agree with them completely.. With McCauley and Hockings they have gone for height at second row. Piroddi has been short changed somewhat. Deserved at least a run n the Barbarians. Also would have gone for Smith in the...

There will be some interesting match ups tomorrow. From the top. The front row from QLD 1 didn't go well at the set piece yesterday given their scrum was going backwards. Hard to work out if it is their doing or a lack of grunt from the second row engine room. I suspect the latter. Numbers 7 is...

That'll be it Derick....well spotted. Photos are rarely life size....you are barely 2 cms tall on my screen...can I take it from the blue shirt that you will be supporting NSW on saturday...:)

He may be Derick. Apologies if I am wrong. Deceptive, he doesn't look as tall or solid as Pirrodi. Will be more evident Saturday. No doubting his ability it was his size I was questioning.

Hewat a little on the small side. Had a solid game but nothing special today. I would play the NSW 2nd row Pirrodi and McCauley who have been a powerful force in the set pieces in the trials and pool matches. A bit more size and grunt will be important. Australian teams have been poor at the set...

Can't see QLD winning Derick. They will struggle in the scrums and the NSW backline is a classier outfit. My prediction NSW by 15 points with QLD fighting to the final whistle.......unless of course we are blessed with another one eyed referee from Brisbane......;)

As a NSW supporter there were 2 very frustrating games of rugby this afternoon. NSW II had little or no game plan and the ball barely made it past the second man off the scrum. This tactic may have worked against lesser opposition earlier in the competition but was doomed to failure against the...

Just found that clip of Tom Wright at the youth 7's. Link below for anyone interested.

Tom Wright is a real talent. Runs in the same style and with the same urgency as Beale. Hard to believe he won't earn a spot in the Australian XV backline. McGregor, Kennewell and Wright were all outstanding at the recent NSW trials. I also thought McCauley was excellent at second row. Athletic...

Don't disagree with anything you are saying Sage. Not criticising the performance of the boys that were selected. This is not a blame analysis All I have questioned is the basis of selection last year. My firm belief remains that the Australian selectors last year weren't balanced and fair. I...

In fairness to Bingham though Charlie Smith did have a great game. He is quicker round the park than any other openside flanker. His speed in closing down the opposition fly half nearly led to a try from a charge down. Puts a lot of pressure on the opposition and is solid in defence. As a...

Interesting debate. I followed the Australian schools team and selection closely last year and blind Freddy could have seen that the Queensland selectors favoured Queensland boys. There was a favourable skew to Queenslanders in the original squad particularly given that NSW's second team beat...

Based on yesterdays performance I would definitely keep Gittoes at number 6, the lighter workload rendered him more dangerous around the park and Piroddi played well at lock. It will be hard to ignore Prindiville for a wing position. He has an uncanny knack of being in the right spot and with...

I beg to differ rugby mum Scots beating Joeys leaves 4 teams with a win and a loss, Newington with 2 wins and Shore without. Newington are strong but not unbeatable. It is shaping up to be the most open GPS in a number of years. That's a good thing. If Joeys had won it would have been somewhat...

Does anyone have any news on Max Girdler? He didn't look in great shape when he came off injured yesterday against Joeys.

My guess Tom is that you are a one eyed Joeys man. Joeys were the ones with a man sent to the bin for a dangerous tackle on the number 7 Smith. Aside from that it wasn't a spiteful game. Man up Tom and stop whining. Joeys were simply beaten by the better team on the day. Close match though.
